dv7-4273us Installation Halts
by Ed K.
I have an HP dv7-4273us, which halts during boot of the DVD and CDROM
installation media for Fedora 17.
Has anyone installed Fedora 17 on a dv7-4273us? I am using F15, and have
not tried F16.
Or, is there anyway that I can step through the startup routine? Here is
where the halt happens:
1. kernel and initial ram disk are loaded off the CD
2. mounts root off of CD/DVD
3. services start
4. resolution changes from text screen to a graphical screen
5. "started network manager [OK]" is reported
6. computer halts
I've tried these boot parameters: noprobe, nousb, nomdraid
Is there another method to debug the boot failure?

I think FirewallD is what you're looking for.

hopefully not, this would mean that security is compromised
if you need services open from network configure the firewall
it is a bad idea do such things automatically
how would such automatic thing decide if the port should be
only available from LAN and must not be accesed from WAN?

Some PDF files are not printed from Evince
by antonio montagnani
I note that some PDF files are not printed by Evince, while they are printed
from Xournal and Adobe reader.
When I print them I get a set of blank pages.
Running a network printer, but I think that it is not important.
Tnx

Fedora 15 versus 17, files missing on the same filesystem
by Pavel Lisy
Hello
I've found strange problem
I have home PC with multiboot instalation of 2 versions of Fedora
distro: F15 and F17.
There is one ext4 filesystem for data on LVM mounted from both systems
When I've copied some files to it in F15 I don't see them in F17.
I've never experienced this on linux. How is it possible?
I can even see different free space in df.
f15/df-h:/dev/mapper/data-music 60G 53G 3,7G 94% /mnt/music
f17/df-h:/dev/mapper/data-music 60G 49G 8,1G 86% /mnt/music
Can somebody help me with it?

F17: swap monitors: minimal xrandr to xorg.conf translation
by Nick Urbanik
Dear Folks,
My two monitors come up the wrong way round, and I quickly came up
with the xrandr command which I've been running when I log in:
xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1600x1200 --output DVI-0 --mode 1920x1200
--right-of VGA-0
However, I am not sure how to express this in xorg.conf any more,
particularly a minimal one, that simply swaps the two monitors.
I'd be glad of any suggestions!

digikam does not show fotos any more after update
by Jens Neu
Dear all,
I just updated my FC16, and digikam does not show my fotos any more.
Albums are all there, rescan collection does not do any difference.
Digikam did not update itself today, still 2.5.0-3.fc16.
When I click on an Album, it gives me a:
digikam(29267)/digikam (core) Digikam::ImageAlbumModel::slotResult:
Failed to list url: "The process for the digikamalbums protocol died
unexpectedly."
when started from terminal. Searching the web turns up bugs from 1.1.0
back from 2010, but nothing recent.
Anyone else experiencing this?
regards
Jens
