GUI fc-list tool?
by Tom Horsley
Before I try to write this tool myself (which I probably
won't finish anyway :-) I thought I'd ask if there is
a tool, perhaps a little like the old xfontsel tool,
but one which works with the fontconfig library and
lets me match or exclude fonts based on all the
font attributes provided by fontconfig?
The single giant list of fonts to scroll through provided
by most apps doesn't really work very well. It is too
easy to get lost.

system-config-network, F-15
by Bob Goodwin
I ran "system-config-network" and set up manually leaving dhcp
unchecked. Is that all I have to or do I still need to disable
Network Manager somewhere?

F15 long boot time
by Bob Goodwin
On a new F15 install replacing F14. The boot process pauses at
"Start LSB: The cups scheduler" for 60 seconds before going on
to the text log-in. I don't know what the cups scheduler is or
what to do with it.
Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

Strange nfs mount requests from F14 box
by Jim Davis
Hi,
I've lately been getting some strange nfs mount requests for non existant users' home directories on a F14 machine to my file server (CentOS).
The message log on the file server shows the following
May 23 03:10:53 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/httpd: No such file or directory
May 24 03:21:13 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/httpd: No such file or directory
May 25 03:26:53 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/httpd: No such file or directory
May 25 09:03:54 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/httpd: No such file or directory
May 25 20:45:06 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/mike: No such file or directory
May 26 03:36:11 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/httpd: No such file or directory
May 27 03:19:19 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/httpd: No such file or directory
May 27 08:47:33 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/releng: No such file or directory
May 27 19:00:57 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/data: No such file or directory
May 27 19:05:24 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/data: No such file or directory
May 27 22:54:02 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/releng: No such file or directory
May 28 03:35:20 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/httpd: No such file or directory
May 28 09:21:52 data mountd[4835]: can't stat exported dir /export/home/data: No such file or directory
I cannot find anything in the logs on the F14 machine that indicates a mount request to the file server, but then I am not an expert on nfs.
The users does not exists on the F14 machine, and I've run rpm -Va (verify all) and have not gotten any indications that rouge packages are installed. The F14 machine is auto patched so I'm up to speed with updates.
Does anybody have a clue on what's going on?

Improving video response on windows7 kvm guest on fedora14
by Alex
Hi,
I have an existing windows7 x86_64 kvm guest running on fedora14
x86_64 with a Radeon HD5700 at 1680x1050, and would like to improve
the resolution and video response of the Windows guest. How can I
change the Windows
driver to something more capable than "standard vga"? It currently
reports there is only 16MB of RAM at available at 1440x900. How can I
increase this? I've tried using virsh or editing the xml directly, but
it doesn't seem to be reflected in the guest.
Some of the configuration options I've read in the documentation don't
work with fedora14 and virt-manager, such as the acceleration options.
This is my current configuration:
<video>
<model type='vmvga' vram='192000' heads='1'/>
<address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x02'
function='0x0'/>
</video>
Video response is very slow and the mouse is also sluggish.
How can I more effectively use the video card's capabilities in the
Windows guest?
Thanks,
Alex

OpendJDK7 for Fedora 15?
by Clemens Eisserer
Hi,
Are there pre-built packages of OpenJDK7 for Fedora-15? Maybe in some
repos disabled by default?
I know it has not reached final yet, I just like the bleeding edge ;)
Thanks, Clemens

dovecot IMAP server doesn't work after Fedora 14 reinstall
by M. Fioretti
Greetings,
I have a computer on which I ran Fedora 14 x86_64 and dovecot to keep a
local imap copy of all my email, in maildir format. One week ago the hard
disk broke, so I bought a new one, reinstalled Fedora 14 x86_64 with all
the updates and copied all my maildirs back to the disk from backups.
I had ran yum update just a few days before the crash, so the dovecot
version and package is the same or almost the same. Since the reinstall,
however, I've been unable use dovecot to access those maildirs. All the
details and error messages are in this post I immediately sent to the
dovecot mailing list, so I won't repeat them here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/dovecot@dovecot.org/msg38562.html
since I've got no help yet there, and since there may be some reason (see
next phrase) external to dovecot, I'm trying here. As far as I can tell,
the only difference between this and the previous install _may_ be the
file system. This time I let the installer go with ext4. I honestly don't
remember what kind of file system was being used on the crashed disk, but
it may have been ext3.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!!
TIA,
Marco

F15 - 640MB RAM Requirement Issue
by Freak Trick
Hi,
I have been using F15 Beta for almost a month now. I currently have 512MB RAM and I must say, it has been working fairly normal (in fact the experience) was better then when XP was on the same machine. I was a bit surprised to know that installing F15 Final requires a minimum of 640MB RAM and what was more surprising that the installation will not proceed. Moreover, F15 Final running from the Live CD was working quite usual and there was little impact on performance, of course, besides the typical Live CD performance constraints.
I was just curious why was this (blocking of installation) done on the F15 Final Release and more so why is it not allowing the installation instead of, lets say, giving some kind of warning and proceeding. I was also wondering if there is some way around it?
Thanks!
