I want to use eclipse-Helios (CPP version) by using fedora 14 but the
system reports a crash in OpenJDK, how can I solve it?
I download and install the Oracle-JRE but it continue to run with Openjdk.
How can I change the default JRE to Oracle-JRE?
Can using Oracle-JRE solve this problem?

System policy to shutdown as normal user?
by Alex
Hi,
How can I change the system policy to authorize a normal user to
shutdown the system without having to prompt for a password?
Is this an selinux thing? The searching I've done seems to indicate
this, but I can't find any definitive information on exactly how to do
it.
Thanks,
Alex

IPTABLES rule for separating users
by erikmccaskey64
I have an OpenWrt 10.03 router [ IP: 192.168.1.1 ], and it has a DHCP server pool: 192.168.1.0/24 - clients are using it through wireless/wired connection. Ok!
Here's the catch: I need to separate the users from each other.
How i need to do it: by IPTABLES rule [ /etc/firewall.user ]. Ok!
"Loud thinking": So i need a rule something like this [on the OpenWrt router]:
- DROP where SOURCE: 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.255 and DESTINATION is 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.255
The idea is this. Ok!
Questions!
- Will i lock out myself if i apply this firewall rule?
- Is this a secure method? [ is it easy to do this?: hello, i'm a client, and i say, my IP address is 192.168.1.1! - now it can sniff the unencrypted traffic! :( - because all the clients are in the same subnet! ]
- Are there any good methods to find/audit for duplicated IP addresses?
- Are the any good methods to find/audit for duplicated MAC addresses?
- Are there any good methods to do this IPTALBES rule on Layer2?:
`$ wget -q "http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/10.03/ar71xx/packages/" -O - | grep -i ebtables`
`$ `
p.s.: The rule would be [is it on a good chain?]:
iptables -A FORWARD -m iprange --src-range 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.255 --dst-range 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.255 -j DROP
Thank you!

Re: Yum crashed
by Krosh Ivanov
Output of commands: http://paste.ideaslabs.com/show/Gz39dMdbOs.
Well, it doesn't matter the way I use yum, the error is the same. I
think I've changed nothing related to yum configuration or to
something important to it. The package 'yum' is not found anymore
because I removed some files from db, but I had got the error before
doing that.
Thanks

Privoxy redirect rule for Wikipedia! :)
by johhny_at_poland77
Dear community!
I have a few Privoxy rules, that can redirect HTTP Wikipedia [en,de] traffic to HTTPS:
(a little part from the "user.action" file:)
{ +redirect{s@http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/@https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/@} }
.en.wikipedia.org
{ +redirect{s@http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/@https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/de/wiki/@} }
.de.wikipedia.org
..so you get the problem: is there any way to put a "regexp" or something to: "en", "de"?
There are hundreds of other languages, i think it's a bad solution to write down them all.
There is another question: is my solution good so far?
I'm asking that because if i visit:
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/File:Nokota_Horses_cropped...
that's ok, it's using HTTPS. BUT if i click on the picture:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/de/Nokota_Horses_cropped.jpg
it's using _HTTP_ !!! - so this is not good. Are the pictures on a HTTP-only server,
or i can write another redirect rule to view the pictures in HTTPS?
Thanks you for any pointings, help, solution.

Akami Download Manager -
by Bob Goodwin
More in my continuing struggle with "The Teaching Company" and
my attempt to download the files they sold me.
After installing "user-agent-switcher" in Firefox their system
offered me what appears to be a Windows app., "Akami Download
Manager.":
[bobg@box9 Downloads]$ ll -ant *.exe*
-rw-rw-r--. 1 500 500 363080 Mar 19 12:11 installer.exe
The problem is I can log into their site and do everything up to
the point of clicking on the download button at which point
nothing happens, the "hand" just stays there, it doesn't
recognize my action. Before they implemented this Akami stuff I
had not problem.
Does anyone know of a way to deal with this other than
installing Windows? Actually this computer came with Windows XP
but it refuses to run since I installed F-14 but that's another
problem.

Missing volume applet?
by Alex
Hi,
I'm not sure it's still called an "applet", but the little volume
control in the upper-right is missing on the panel on my fc14 system.
How can I get it back?
The little network icon is also missing. I have no idea how this
happened. The clock and username are still there, though.
What happens if I delete that panel and recreate it?
Thanks for any ideas!
Best regards,
Alex
