Chrome crashes F13
by SternData
I can reliably cause my F13 system to crash by browsing the web in
Chrome (from the Google repository).
The scenario is (1) start chrome and (2) start normal browsing behavior.
Pretty soon, I get DNS timeouts and the system load applet shows the
load average climbing. Today, I was able to kill chrome as load average
passed 18. Although the load average dropped, other applications were
left in various states and I was unable to reboot the system cleanly.
Is anyone else seeing this sort of behavior from Chrome?
Current kernel is 2.6.33.5-124.fc13.i686.PAE
I'm currently using google-chrome-beta-5.0.375.86-49890.i386.

USB not working in VirtualBox F13
by Mick M.
Hi;
Kernel x86_64 x86_64 x86_64
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa VirtualBox*
VirtualBox-3.2-3.2.6_63112_fedora13-1.x86_64
This is the Oracle version, same for the fedora version.
I cannot install the OSE version as "there is no module for this kernel"
My userneme is mick, mick is a member of mick(500), usb(503), vboxusers(504).
I have a line in fstab:
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=503,devmode=664 0 0
In VirtualBox -> USB All boxes are checked.
It sees "Kingston DataTraveller 2.0 (0200)", is dark text and seems normal.
Top line: Devices -> USB Devices - the Kingston is there but greyed out.
Bottom line hover over USB symbol "NO USB devices attached"
Any Ideas?
Standard guarantee applies - 30 feet or 30 seconds, whichever comes first.

A virus scanner on linux for windows partition
by JD
I came across an article that mentioned some viruses
that can hide and move around on a booted windows
machine, and can evade virus scanner.
So, I thought that is the windows partition can be scanned
by another booted OS like linux it would make it impossible
for the virus to evade detection and quarantine.
Is there such a scanner than can be run from Linux?

dual head intel graphics card problems (laptop + docking station)
by Natxo Asenjo
hi again,
since I upgraded to f13 getting to start my laptop at work in a
docking station is really painful.
Setup: dell latitude e6500 with fedora amd64. At work, docking station
with 2 20´' monitors. With Fedora 12, this worked flawlessly. Plug
laptop in dockinstation, turn on with lid down, set it up once, work
since then with the 2 external monitors when I am at the office, just
the laptop monitor when not there.
Now it takes me between 10 minutes to half an hour to get my dual head
working every morning. It's getting on my nerves, to be honest ;)
What happens is either:
1) I plug laptop on docking station, turn it on and when the gdm
screen should appear I just see 1/4 of left screen, the rest is not
available (black). I can go to a VT, go to runlevel 3, back to 5 and
see if it works. Rinse and repeat until it does;
2) turn it on outside the docking station, login, plug it in the
dockin station, pray that it detects the monitors. If it does not,
then it effectively hangs, I cannot change to a VT, I have to power
cycle it. Rinse and repeat until it works.
My question is: until fedora 13, the standard behaviour was not to
mirror the monitors. How can I have this behaviour now? What extra
info can I supply you with?

FW: bootloader lost
by Maseood Raisi
There is no need to re install grub
Just run a fedora live CD and mount your fedora boot partition
Then go to console and run grub under root
Then type this commands
root (hd0,x) {x is the number of your fedora boot partition numbering from
zero}
setup (hd0)
If everything ok, the MBR regenerated

F13: Delay in screen refresh
by Marco Guazzone
Hi,
I've noticed that there is a some kind of "delay" in the screen refresh.
For instance, under VIM when I move the cursor (that is a black
rectangle) under a character, it takes between 1 and 4 secs before
the character appears inside the cursor.
I've experienced the same issue under OpenOffice and FireFox.
This is really annoying. :(
Under F12 no problem
Does any other experienced this behaviour?
My system is:
* OS: F13 x86_64 - up-to-dated
* WM: OpenBox
* CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo
* GPU: Intel GM965/GL960
* RAM: 2GB
Thank you so much!
