Drawing Toolbar not working on OpenOffice Calc
by Paul Smith
Dear All,
When I turn on the Drawing Toolbar on OpenOffice Calc, I get the
toolbar, but when I click on the icon 'T' (of this toolbar), nothing
happens. Does this happens with you? Is this a bug? I am using F10.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Ah... umm... yes... I wondered how those patches got used. <sheepish grin> It just goes to show you - a (very) little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

OK, got it now. (and thanks to Bryn M. Reeves for the link)
$ pwd
/usr/src/redhat/
$ find . -name "*.spec"
./SOURCES/dhcp-4.0.0/contrib/dhcp.spec
./SPECS/dhcp.spec
$ rpmbuild -bc ./SPECS/dhcp.spec

...couple of warning messages...

success!!

Wifi dies about once an hour. Bug in update ?
by linux guy
My wifi dies about once an hour. The only way I can get it working
again is to reboot. Very irritating.
I was on the road this weekend. When I got to my destination I used
Start->Administration->Network Configuration to change the ESSID for
wlan0. I saved it and restarted wlan0. It worked fine. I've done this
a bunch of times in the past without any problems.
I got home late last night. This morning I edited my ESSID and
restarted wlan0. It worked fine for an hour, then it died. I tried all
sorts of ways to restart it, but the only way I could get it to run
again was to reboot. I've been rebooting about once an hour ever
since.
I'm running F10, all updates, KDE, etc. I am not running a network
manager.
uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.i686 #1 SMP Wed Jan
21 02:09:37 EST 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
I downloaded a bunch of F10 updates on the weekend. I don't think I
restarted my laptop. Has anyone else had a problem with their wifi
quitting since installing some of the recent updates ?
How do I fix my wifi network problem ?
Thanks.
Aside: I'd love to have a network manager like what is shipped with F10
Live, but I've never been able to figure out how to get it running. If
anyone knows, I'd like to tackle that once I get wlan0 running stable.

Samba: question I am ashamed to ask
by Timothy Murphy
I am running samba on a Linux (actually Centos-5.2) server
on my little home network, which has 5 Fedora machines
and 1 or 2 Windows XP (Home) desktops.
My question is: can I, or even should I,
add a stanza, say [windows], to /etc/samba/smb.conf
to give information about the Windows client?
If I did this, would it enable me to access files on the Windows machine
from my Linux laptop?
Could some kind soul give an example of such a stanza,
if indeed there is such a thing.
I'm puzzled about this, because I googled for "smb.conf examples"
and looked at quite a few, but none of them had an entry
for a Windows share, even though most of them had Windows clients.
I might mention that I installed samba
to back up my Windows machine(s) with BackupPC.
This is working perfectly, backing up both Fedora and Windows machines.
Also I can see my Linux shares on the Windows machine.
But as I said, I cannot see the Windows share on my Linux machines.
All suggestions and explanations gratefully received.

Help for Samba configuration
by antonio montagnani
I am trying to set-up my Samba shared folders on one of my box (but I
have similar troubles on other boxes)
When I open Resources/Network/Windows Network I see the boxes shared on
my network, but when I try to open a shared folder on my computer...
well I click on the required computer icon, I get a window with shared
folder, but when I click on one of them I get the message that folder
cannot be mounted!!!
I checked all my configuration files, but it seems o.k.
So when I click on one folder icon I get either a password request
window or a message that I cannot mount folder.
Can I ask some help??

# For a step to step guide on installing, configuring and using samba,

#
# If you create a new directory you want to share you should mark it as

#
# Use ls -ldZ /path to see which context a directory has

# If you want to run scripts (preexec/root prexec/print command/...) please

SD card reader (Texas Instruments)
by L
Hi
I have SD card reader on the laptop HP NX5000. I believe the reader is
Texas Instruments one. After I insert the sdcard in, the dmesg shows:
tifm_core: MMC/SD card detected in socket 0:0
But it does not mount automatically. Does it miss some module or how to make
it mounted?
my system if F10 i386 (2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.i686), fairly updated
thanks

gcc issue
by Steve Blackwell
On my fully-up-to-date F9 system, this file, junk.c:
#include <netinet/in.h>
struct my_struct {
struct in6_addr ipi6_addr;
unsigned int ipi6_ifindex;
};
int main ( int argc, char **argv )
{
int x,y;
struct in6_pktinfo junk;
struct my_struct junk2;
x = sizeof (junk);
y = sizeof (junk2);
}
when compiled gives this error:
$ gcc -c junk.c
junk.c: In function ‘main’:
junk.c:12: error: storage size of ‘junk’ isn’t known
$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.3.0 20080428 (Red Hat 4.3.0-8)

On a Suse 11.1 system running gcc v4.3.2, the same file compiles without errors.
I'm trying to compile dhcp-4.0.0 which uses struct in6_pktinfo. Can anyone suggest a workaround? (and please don't say switch to Suse ;-D)

Will Fedora 9 get 2.6.28?
by Will Yonker
Hello all,
The subject says it all really. I'm running Fedora 9 and want to use
EXT4. I realize there is support in the 2.6.27 but I've read that all the
goddies are not in until 2.6.28. So, will Fedora 9 get it or do I have to
upgrade to Fedora 10?
Is anyone using EXT4 and software RAIDs (5)?
Thanks
