What's earliest possible date on an FC 6 i386 CD image?
by Roger LOTN
Sorry for the jaunt thru history but I'm trying to rebuild an old system
including the original OS... and noticed that FC 6 was publicly released on
10/24/06 but the ISO image I was given on a CD had a date of 10/15/06. Is
that possible?
Thanks.

Can a kernel rpm be built for i686 on x86_64?
by William F. Acker WB2FLW +1 303 722 7209
Hi all,
Years ago, I successfully built an i686 kernel using a machine running
the x86_64 distro. The kernel seemed to run fine. The only trouble I
found was when I tried to build an external module, the build failed. It
turned out that the kernel-devel package had a binary called genksyms.
That was still being built as an elf64 binary. I can no longer find that
binary, so I believe it's now OK to build all my packages for i686 and
x86_64 at once on an x86_64 machine. Is this recommended? If not, why
not?
TIA.

NFS on Fedora 11 is working, want to know how, the easy way?
by n2xssvv.g02gfr12930
Just a note to you Fedora folks out there. I have managed to set up a
local LAN with NFS working without disabling the Firewall, (SELinux is
set as permissive), and only requiring the changing of 2 files as all
the other changes can be made using GUI configuration tools. My
experience of setting this up found that the information available on
the web was incomplete or patchy at best, and involved more manual
editing of system files, (need to be careful here). Rest assured folks
it really is not as hard as it may appear, (ok, I've been maintaining my
Linux PC for ~6 years), so let me know if you want more details.

Re: [Was: Countdown is on... 13 days until F12 stable] - changing repos?
by Philip Rhoades
People,
I currently have F12 Beta installed (2.6.31.5-96.fc12.x86_64) - thanks
to everyone involved with developing Fedora over the years!. Once the
stable version is released, do I have to change the repos in
/etc/yum.repos.d to get off Rawhide?
Thanks,
Phil.

General question about Intel and AMD virtualiztion support in hardware
by KC8LDO
Who seems to have the edge in hardware virtualization Intel or AMD? I've
heard comments both ways with one IT person suggesting that AMD was the way
to go.
Also are there extra "features" supported under the various open source
virtualization systems, KVM and Xen, under one manufacture but not the other
of any real significance?

As requested:
I am using standard desktop linux at home.
: Standard cable internet provided by COX (or I switch to Verizon soon) at
my house
: No wireless, no fancy stuff, just typical home user
: Typical DHCP I assume (whatever default Fedora does)
: The router is an Encore ENsomenumber, about 1-2 years old
: Yes my route table goes blank when I connect router
Also, I noticed after reset-ing the router that all LED lights shine except
POWER light,
so I think that's just a broken LED.
I'm not in front of my computer now, so I can't run ifconfig command yet.
I will run ifconfig asap, but as far as I can remember, it did not fix the
problem when I last
attempted it (I believe around mid-June).
I've had this issue since February (and Fedora 10).
One day my router-setup just didn't work anymore. had to plug directly to
wall / cablemodem
Thanks for your patience

question on mail (sendmail, dovecot, fetchmail)
by roland
Hello,
I installed sendmail, dovecot and fetchmail, configured IMAP
1. When I use an email address like info(a)mydomain.be, after creating the
user info, all mail is delivered to root
After changing the delivery-to => roland, mail for info is delivered to
roland.
2. How can I accept mail for info(a)mydomain.be and deliver it to roland and
luc?
3. When I send mail, using sendmail, I do not have a folder 'sent' on the
IMAP server.
I mean, if I send mail via evolution and then go to another computer,
which has p.e. Outlook Express, the folder 'sent' is not there. The folder
inbox is.
If these question are simple or make you frown and look up to the sky, I
apologize. I do not find the right answers with Google or do not
understand them.
Thanks for your help
