Re: Can't control flash player (32 bits)
by Andre Robatino
I see this on every Hulu video, using the 64-bit flash plugin on x86_64.
Fortunately, I can still control the video using the keyboard - for
example, space bar to pause/play and up/down arrows to control the
volume. I think but am not absolutely sure that the problem started
after installing Nvidia's video driver from Rpmfusion (akmod-nvidia,
adding the nouveau.modeset=0 kernel option, and running "setsebool -P
allow_execstack on").

Audacity playback doesn't work for me
by Kevin Cummings
Long story short:
Got a new cell phone
Tried to use audacity-freeworld to edit a .mp3 file down to a ringtone.
Discovered that I couldn't play the .mp3 file due to the following error:
> Error while opening sound device. Please check the
> output device settings and the project sample rate.
The errors in the terminal session look like (lot's of them!):
> Expression 'parameters->channelCount <= maxChans' failed in 'src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c', line: 915
> Expression 'ValidateParameters( outputParameters, hostApi, StreamDirection_Out )' failed in 'src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c', line: 1133
These seem similar to an F8 bug that was closed as NOTABUG: 449012
This is F11.x86_64
My audacity playback devices number 3:
ALSA: HDA Intel: Si3054 Modem (hw0,6)
ALSA: modem
ALSA: phoneline
I have 6 possible recording devices:
ALSA: HDA Intel: ALC883 Analog(hw0,0)
ALSA: HDA Intel: ALC883 Analog(hw0,2)
ALSA: HDA Intel: Si3054 Modem (hw0,6)
ALSA: modem
ALSA: phoneline
OSS: /dev/dsp
I suspect that I need to somehow add my ALC883 (hw0,0) device to my
audacity playback configuration. Can anyone tell me *how* to do that?

PATH=??, export PATH
by Antonio Olivares
Dear fellow Fedora users,
I have installed Fedora 12 at home on two of my machines, since I am on dialup(at home) and the Fedora 12 install DVD did not have texlive :(, I obtained texlive.xz.iso at work and have installed texlive2009 on both machines. I have also installed kile from source(I know that Fedora is an rpm based distro, but I am not willing to allow the install to pull in texlive when I have it already installed). Any how, I have everything working, except the paths :(
I did the following as directed after running the install:
PATH=/usr/local/texlive/2009/bin/i386-linux:$PATH; export PATH
MANPATH=/usr/local/texlive/2009/texmf/doc/man:$MANPATH; export MANPATH
NFOPATH=/usr/local/texlive/2009/texmf/doc/info:$INFOPATH; export INFOPATH
but everytime I reboot, the commands get lost and I have to rerun them everytime. This is a great disadvantage to installing this way, but Fedora DVD did not have texlive by default[nor XFCE :( but that is another thing] Is there a way of making these changes permanent?
Thank you guys in Advance and by the way Happy Thanksgiving to all and wish all a great Holiday :)
Regards,
Antonio

Fedora 12 upgrade sucks
by n2xssvv.g02gfr12930
I tried to upgrade my laptop from Fedora 11 to 12 today, using yumex.
The result sucks.
The latest kernel cannot run a GUI
The only video driver that appears to work is vesa, (should use either
nv or nouveau for nvidia graphics), and therefore not at required
resolution, or openGL applications.
The display configuration program fails to run
Unless someone can suggest what to do I will be reinstalling Fedora 11
My advice to others based on this experience is not to install/upgrade
to Fedora 12 for next couple of months, when hopefully these serious
problems will have been fixed.
I appreciate the amount of work people put in for new releases, but I
would rather new releases were delayed, rather than be broken with
regard what most users require.
I managed to upgrade my PC from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11 using yumex
successfully, hence my disappointment!

AAUGH! Is the the way evdev is supposed to work?
by Tom Horsley
I am sure I would have noticed this if it was happening earlier.
I see a recent update included a brand new xorg-x11-drv-evdev,
and now I notice that if I do something like switch to a different
system on my KVM switch (which has my keyboard and mouse
plugged into it), that when I switch back, all my xinput
settings for drag lock and button mapping have disappeared.
Am I supposed to write a udev rule to re-apply my settings
every time, if so, what on God's earth does the rule need
to look like, and where on earth do I put it?
I can feel my attempt to use the new and improved evdev
slipping into oblivion again, and me going back to turning
off evdev and using the old mouse and keyboard drivers...

building dvd

Bonjour,
I use kaffeine to record TV programs.
These programs are m2t encoded and I want to be able to burn dvd
readable on my dvd machine in my living room.
I found devede which seems to be able to do some conversion. But I want
to transfer on the dvd all information from the m2t file: all audio
tracks and subtitles in order to be able to choose my preferred version:
french version or original version with subtitles.
What are the soft which can do this, under fedora 10.
Thanks for answering.

Can't control flash player (32 bits)
by Boggiano
Hi all,
bran new installation of F12, gnome desktop, firefox 3.5.5 and flash player
10,0,32,18.
It's seems all right, but after two or three youtube videos (and other
sites), I loose the possibility to pause, stop,
going forward, rewind, going full screen....
Pratically the player doesn't see my mouse clicks.
For example:
here works:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbbcDXAcbkY
here doesn't work:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyuJ7ZvikUw
Any ideas?
Thanks
