Just a quick double-check question re installation of LiveCD
by Bill Case
Hi;
Is the LiveCD updated as bugs are discovered and fixed, or do I get all
fixes subsequent to installation from the update repo?
In other words, if I download and burn the LiveCD now, it will remain
the same when it comes to installing F12 on other machines later?
I think the answer is 'yes' but I just want to double check?

Wolfgang:
Found the problem. It wasn't anything I waas looking at. Instead it was
the file /etc/pki/dnssec-keys/named.dnssec.keys file that was corrupted?
Not sure how that happened, but I installed Bind on another F12 machine
with the same configuration (except the DNS server was the new machine)
and everything worked. I then noticed that the named.dnssec.key file
size was different, so I copied it over and now it's working properly.
I still get no valid DS resolving xxxxxx, so I'm not sure what else I
need to do...
thanks again and sorry for the late reply...

[F12] Firefox + Flash = crash
by Andreas M. Kirchwitz
Hi folks!
Just freshly installed my old Fedora 10 system with Fedora 12 (32 bit),
and I was suprised to see that Firefox 3.5.5 (directly from mozilla.org)
crashes on any site with flash (Flash plugin 10.0.32.18 from adobe.com).
Both are the most recent versions. No other custom plugins installed
in Firefox.
Installing the Flash plugin 10.1 prerelease 1 (2009-11-17) no longer
crashes Firefox but doesn't do anything useful neither (empty box).
I'm using GNOME/fvwm2 (no compiz or other 3D stuff). Graphics card
is nVidia GeForce FX 5200 (NV34). For some reason, the X server seems
to use the old "nv" driver by default. With "system-config-display",
I can force it to "nouveau", but that makes no difference.
Besides that, all graphics (desktop) is extremly slow. For example,
scrolling a page up/down in Firefox, or the "bell" (reverse video)
in xterm. Sometimes I can see the pixels getting drawn. :-(
What happened here? CPU is an Intel P4 (2,8 GHz), and that machine
worked like a charme with Fedora 10. Now, it's basically unusable.
By searching this mailing list and Bugzilla, I couldn't find issues
about general slowness in X. Though, crashes of flash are quite usual
(not only on F12 ;-), but most are related to conflicting plugins or
leftovers from previous upgrades (eg, libflashsupport).
Could all that be related to some feature or a bug in the new
X.Org X Server 1.7.1? Are there any known compatibility tricks?
Any hints are welcome.
Maybe such things already happened with Fedora 11, and there's
a large database of workarounds. ;-) But because I skipped F11,
I don't know of any such things. So please accept my excuse if
my problems are well-known and fixes exist.
Greetings, Andreas

screen background problem on F12
by Fred Smith
Hi all!
F12 is looking really good here, but I do have one small issue that I'd
like guidance on...
when I change the wallpaper (background) image, it reverts to the original
one as soon as I do one of: logout and in; reboot; use the desktop switcher,
after which even the original desktop has reverted.
How to make it stick? Even choosing the "make default" button makes no
difference, it still reverts.
And worse, the default image isn't the right size/shape, so it leaves
big white borders on the left and right side of the screen. :(
Never had this problem on F10 or F11 on the same computer.
Thanks in advance!

by Jorge Manta Bulhoes
Thank you for your prompt response Rahul.
That stuff didn't solve my problem.
I tried disabling selinux, create a new user, delete the dirs and
nothing.
With a clean new user I open a terminal and no menu even when the option
"show menubar" ir turn on.
The menu system is all crazy ou missing....
If someone as a tip...

Add another user, log-in and check if the problem persists. If it does,
you can remove your .gconf* and .gnome* settings in your regular home
folder and check.

These people are not logged at all on this computer. There were just
logged in the past. a week or more.
Then i guess there s something on the workstation that check the home
directory of people who were logged in the past.
I suspect Consolekit to do that trick but i can't find a way to check it
where can i find some documentation about consolekit and the way it
tracks past user session?
