A Possible Reason for Problems with Flash Player
by Dave Feustel
After attempting to install the Firefox Flash plugin,
I kept getting SELinux alerts every time I started Firefox.
After deleting all the files in the directory
/usr/lib/nspluginwrapper, I continued to get SELinux alerts.
The flash plugin attempts to make the stack executable, which
SELinux does not permit on my system.
The alerts from one invocation of Firefox follow:
2/home/daf}firefox
Error: /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/plugin-config not found
/usr/lib64/nspluginwrapper/plugin-config not found
FoxyProxy settingsDir = /home/daf/.mozilla/firefox/jde131vm.default

OT: Web design applications
by Anne Wilson
I thought that a good introduction to using php would be to follow a tutorial.
However, it's designed for use with Nvu. I know that Nvu changed its name
some time ago, but can't remember its new name.
For a first attempt it would be easiest to use an interface that is closest to
what the tutorial describes. I'd expect to be able to do the same thing again
later using any other web editor, but not this first time. Can anyone point
me to either the renamed nvu or to whichever editor is closest to its
interface?
Thanks

RealPlayer crash since some days F10
by Joachim Backes
Hi,
I applied all F10 updates. Since some days, trying to play .rm files
filed with realplayer 11 dies with:
realplay /tmp/*.rm
Opening ALSA PCM device default
1b65768b-3541-768e-206d20a1-4ca3b03a is dumped
and error message
"The application realplay.bin has crashed"
in the gnome bug reporting tool.
Somebody has similar problems?

Anybody virtualizing topo maps??
by Beartooth
Any word etymologically related to 'virtualize' is one
more thing I haven't gotten around to looking at yet. I remember
once, quite a while back, I had a quick look at VMware, thinking
about ways to get my proprietary map software to talk to my GPSs
under linux; but something about it turned me off.
Installing & running GPS software under Wine/CXO has
gotten way better in the last couple years, but I still can't do
the crucial last step, so that I can transfer data back and
forth.
So I asked on Gmane's winelist if anyone else had. No
claims, though I waited for them; but somebody there says he does
it with ease using VMware.
OK, so back to that -- wherever it is : here google, here
google ... And the first I look at, dated last month, is
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/12/04/ibm_linux_lotus_virtual_desktop/
Am I reading this right?? They seem to be saying that IBM
now has something called VERDE, true free software, that does
VMware's job better than VMware. Pure puffery by marketing
droids? Or is there something to it? Has anybody had any
experience with it yet??
If so, are there tricks a/o gotchas to using it with F10??

yumex starts without password
by Mick M.
Hi;
I run F10 and KDE.
The system is fully updated.
I start programs from desktop icons.
When I log in I double-click the firefox icon and then the yumex icon.
While firefox is thinking about starting - yumex connects and starts,
No password was asked for.
If I just double-click yumex it asks me for the root password, which it should.
I am not complaining but this seems wrong, what else could start as root while firefox is starting up?
[mick@localhost ~]$ su -
Password:
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa yumex firefox
firefox-3.0.5-1.fc10.x86_64
yumex-2.0.5-3.fc10.noarch

dt = list(time.localtime(time.time())
hour = dt[3]
minute = dt[4]
if hour == 5 and minute == 45:
os.popen2("open /Users/jun/shout.mp3")
not_executed = 0
