where is the net-snmp-utils in fedora 7
by Zhen Zhou
Dear all,
Now I managed to install snmp package in fc7, but unfortunately I
didn't find net-snmp-utils,
because I need snmpwalk to test snmp function.
So anyone have a idea, how to find net-snmp-utils, ofcs, I found it in
development repository.
That need us to update all the dependence, but I don't want to do.
Where is the net-snmp-utils in fedora 7 without upgrade?
Thanks in advance,

Cannot write to SD card
by Dotan Cohen
I have a 2 GB Sandisk SD card that I often write to. Just today, it
has started to be mounted read-only:
cp: cannot create regular file `bg.jpg2': Read-only file system
The read-write switch on the side of the card is set to write, and
I've never had trouble with it before. So I figured that I'll be smart
and man mount, in where I discovered the -w flag, but I get this
error:
[root@localhost ~]# mount -w /media/disk
mount: /dev/sda1 already mounted or /media/disk busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is already mounted on /media/disk
So I tried unmounting it, but the device seems to be busy:
[root@localhost ~]# umount /media/disk
umount: /media/disk: device is busy
umount: /media/disk: device is busy
There are no open konqueror windows, or anything else that might be
accessing the card, so far as I can tell. What must one do to either:
1) determine what is accessing the disk
or
2) Force umount anyway
Thanks in advance.

My funk is not with perl per se, but with the continuing proliferation of dependencies on which the target package is not really dependent. kdesdk gets along perfectly well on other distributions without perl.

changing passwd hashing -> /etc/shadow
by Technomage-hawke
I posted this question previously on 2 mailing lists (the other one rejected
the posting due to it also being directed here).
This is generic to all distros, but I am using fedora-7 on a project and would
like to know where this can be changed at.
Currently, my FC-7 install is using the default md5 hashing in /etc/shadow.
unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any information on how to change
this, let alone where.
anyone have some useful links that can help (I've tried google, but all I've
managed to get flooded with is encryption whitepapers and things unrelated to
linux).
thanks.

Logitech MX1000 buttons
by Mark Panen
Hi
I have found quite a few links which say are to be helpfull but are all dead.
I have used livna's "livna-config-display" to install a nvidia driver
so my xorg does not seem to have my mouse editing options. Still have
to search for this.
Anyone managed to get the back and forward buttons to work using my
configuration ?

DD not working
by Karl Larsen
I have been trying to use the F7 that I copied to the new Hard Drive
but instead I'm getting very strange results. With just the new Hard
Drive mounted I set up Grub and changed grub.conf so the proper root was
showing. But it would not boot and the error was file system not good.
So DD copy must have ruined the file system I put on.
So back to the Old Hard Drive and it has some weird stuff going. I
wanted to fix the /dev/sdb5 file system and here is what happend:
[root@k5di ~]# fsck /dev/sdb5
fsck 1.40.2 (12-Jul-2007)
e2fsck 1.40.2 (12-Jul-2007)
/dev/sdb5 is mounted.
WARNING!!! Running e2fsck on a mounted filesystem may cause
SEVERE filesystem damage.
Do you really want to continue (y/n)? yes
f7: recovering journal
f7: clean, 174545/10246368 files, 3132553/10239421 blocks
[root@k5di ~]# mount -t ext2 /dev/sdb5 /mnt
mount: /dev/sdb5 already mounted or /mnt busy
The last 2 lines say that /dev/sdb5 is mounted to this Old Hard Drive
somehow. I did not do this. /etc/fsack did not do this. So not sure what
is going on. And last the /etc/grub.conf has been changed by something
to the wrong on this computer. Weird!

Gnome won't start after upgrade to FC7
by Edward DeMeulle
Just recently noticed that after upgrading to FC7, X-windows starts and
just sits there with an X cursor with just the FC wallpaper (I normally
use/play through SSH). I'm not familiar enough with the connection
between X and Gnome to know where to look next. Anyone have any
suggestions as to how to proceed?
