Errors from secure webpage
by Howard Howell
Ok, I have a problem....
I am accessing a secure site and I get the following error message(s)
For nearly every page I attempt to access I get:
Error trying to validate certificate from (pagename here) using OCSP
-directory lookup error.
I am looking for suggestions of where to look, or who to contact (the
page admin? My ISP? logs about setup, setup issues?)
I googled and got information about OCSP via Wikipedia, but it didn't
help me too much. Can anyone provide any idea of what I need to do to
resolve this issue? Windows doesn't see the error on the same webpages,
which I checked just to see if it might be the webpage itself.

Program to handle .daa files?
by John Bowden
Hi folks
I have just finished down loading some books for a friends son to help him
with his maths. They have arrived in .daa file, which is a compressed iso
type of file. You get a .daa file and a .nfo file. Any ideas as to what
program will burn them or convert them to a burnning format that K3b will
handle?

Re: Can't access USB disk in rescue mode
by David Wolinski

I tried this but got the same results: dmesg sees the new USB device,
but no device files created. Still puzzled why.
Instead of using a rescue CD, I booted to a live F7 environment in
which the USB disk was recognized in the usual way, enabling me to
finish the rescue work I originally needed to do.

I have compiled and install the splix drivers applying the attached
patch. The patch works only if you do not need the driver to display
messages in French, German, or Italian. Thus, the attached patch is a
very crude workaround. From what I am able to determine, ppdpo
translates messages from one language (here English) to another. I
will file a request for feature against cups-devel in bugzilla for
ppdpo to be included in future releases.
To apply the patch:
1) copy the patch to the splix source directory
2) cd to the splix source directory
2) $ patch -p1 < splix-1.0.1-1-makefile.patch
3) $ make
4) as root run "make install"
5) restart cups
6) configure the ML-2510 via CUPS selecting the ML-2150, 1.0 en driver
(After installing, you may need to reset the context for rastertospl2.
To do so issue the following command as root "restorecon -v
/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertospl2".)
The splix drivers work on FC7 and FC6 with the ML-2510 shared on a
Windows machine. I cannot guarantee the drivers work when the ML-2510
connected via USB.

[OT] Saving file as blob in PgSQL
by Joe Tseng
Has anyone written code to save files in PgSQL in a BLOB field? I can't seem to get it to play with my file... I created a new column named resultsArchive of type "bytea" and psql won't play nice:
data=> update tblTests set resultsArchive=lo_import('/temp/stuff.txt') where idTest = 161;
ERROR: column "resultsarchive" of relation "tbltests" does not exist
LINE 1: update tblTests set resultsArchive=lo_import('/temp/stuff....
I've googled for examples and I see nothing that would make me think this is not correct. Useful help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: selinux eradicator?

Turning it off is easy, I'm trying to get rid of the packages so I
don't have to keep downloading updates for them :-).
P.S. To turn it off edit /etc/sysconfig/selinux and tell it to be
disabled (or if you are a belt and suspenders guy, you could also
edit /boot/grub/grub.conf and put selinux=0 as a kernel boot option).
P.P.S. Trying to remove everything except libselinux doesn't work,
it still insists on removing every rpm on the system. Trying again
with all the other lib-whatever packages associated with selinux
give the same results. It acts a lot like everything depends on
every selinux package.

Centrino duo, card reader and Linux
by Marcelo Magno T. Sales
Hi,
I have a Centrino Duo notebook which has an embedded card reader (for memory
sticks, SD cards, XD cards, etc.). No card inserted in the reader is detected
by Fedora. I was hoping that the new F7 kernel would support it, but the
reader is still dead after the upgrade.
lspci shows:
(...)
05:03.1 Generic system peripheral [0805]: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822
SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 19)

(rev 0a)
05:03.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd xD-Picture Card Controller (rev 05)

Is there anything I can do to get this device working? Or do I have to wait
for a kernel that supports it?
Thanks,
Marcelo

FC6 network problem.
by Aaron Konstam
I asked this before but let me ask it again in a different way. I have
two machines of my home lan. When I ping the lan router 5 ping cycles
take essentially the smae time. I am pinging to a 1p address.
I can ping an external internet address and the pings take essentially
the same time.
However, I ask one of the machines to get content through a browser
things grind to a halt. The same thing happens when I do a yum operation
on one of the machines. The other works normally. Asdkong the browser to
load the web page throm the router is a long slow process.
Both machines show about the same load in top. Both machines worked up
to last Friday when I tried to do a yum update but nothing was ever
installed since the process slowed to a stop.
I am stumped. What could have gone wrong to result in this behavior. I
considered the NIC failed but the pings seem to rule that out.
Any one have any things to try to identify the problem?
