Postfix relay problem
by Luc MAIGNAN
Hi all,
my mail server provides an stmp access. I thought I've configured it to
deny relay. It is true when I try basically to send a mail to another
domain. But some persons seem to bypass this policy using themself a
relay domain ::
24BDEE7918: to=<donna(a)go4extreme.com>,
relay=smtp1.msp.securence.com[216.17.3.48]:25, delay=3.3,
delays=0.02/0.01/1.2/2.1, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 OK, queued as
<20070429143657.24BDEE7918@
How can I deny these mails, and deny use of another relay ?
Many thanks

I tried ur suggestion .. but it seems like its only scanning the local
drives - ignoring the HDD thats connected through USB ... but i'll
keep trying ... thanx :)
btw ... the lvm group in my local hdd have the same name than the one
in USB ... will this causes conflicts that might able to cause
dataloss??

control-center?
by Michael Klinosky
While perusing Package Manager, I noticed that 'GNOME Control Center' is
installed (by default). (Filename is control-center.)
What does it do?
How do I access it? Didn't see it in the applications or system menus,
and running it in a terminal didn't work (even as 'su -').

Trying to Burn FC6 one cd installation
by Isamar Maia
Hi Folks
I am trying to customize FC6 installation with a minimum of packages.
I tried to install the system with no option packages at first but, even so,
It requires CD 1 and CD 4.
Is there anyway to make a FC6 installation with only CD1 ?
Anybody knows which packages of CD4 is being required
in the "minimal" installation or how to check it out?
Best Regards,
Isamar

tx_flow_control_pause NIC => WRT54G
by Jorge Luis
My NIC (Intel 100VE) is set to 100baseT/Full (autoneg off) running
into a Linksys WRT54G with the latest stock firmware. I'm getting
some high numbers in tx_flow_control_pause. Ideally, ethtool should
return a 0 for that line, I believe. Does anyone have any clues as to
why this might be happening? Outbound hops in traceroute don't show
any undue latency in the first hop, but the (outside) network is a bit
bursty. ifconfig shows no errors. The box is running FC6, stock
kernel.
On a related note, in Linux, should the MTU on the NIC be set to match
the MTU of the router (1492), or should I leave it at 1500?
Thanks for any help,
Jorge Luis

Re: questions about installing fedora via http

I have FC 6 now. Can I install Fedora 7 over the 'net?
I have FC 6's Rescue CD, but I think that it'll allow only a FC 6
install (not F 7) - correct?

spamd failing
by Michael A. Peters
rebooted my server, something I don't often do.
It's pretty much straight fc6+extras
spamd failed.
I can't bring it up:
[root@jerusalem ~]# /etc/init.d/spamassassin restart
Stopping spamd: [FAILED]
Starting spamd: [3394] error: spamd: could not create INET socket on

Why is Fedora a multimedia disaster? - Here is why.
by Valent Turkovic
I install a fresh Fedora7 (test 3) then run web browser and go to
fedora magazine page - from there I download some video ogg files from
it.
Why is it that when I click on the file I can't view the video? Player
just crashes! And the default player is kamboodle! Why is that?!? That
is the worst video player I have seen ever! On any platform!
Opensource or not there is no excuse to put that player as the default
one!
Fedora 7 experience was a bit better than FC6 one - because in FC6
when I tried the same experiment I got an error message that ogg is a
unknown format and system doesn't know how to open it!
Great! And that was an OGG file with 0% proprietary fibers in it :)
How do you expect to get people to use linux as a destop when the MOST
simple multimedia desktop scenario doesn't work!?!
If you can't play "official" video form redhat pages then this is a
serious case of TERRIBLE multimedia desktop usability!
I know about all the great effort that has gone into fedora releases,
and I love it. It is the best linux distro for me, but I know how to
set it up, iron out the quirks that mess up the destop experience and
configure it for optimal work/play flow.
But please, please make it a lot easier on non-geek people so that
they can also use this great stuff called fedora. And belive me there
are people wanting to do so, but they can't because we don't let them.
They need some features to be enabled by default or else they won't
know how that they even exist.
So please change the default video player to totem or something else,
just NOT kamboodle because it just doesn't work and it sucks GUI vise.
Regarding proprietary video codecs RedHad developers just say
something like this: "We talked with out lawyers and they said no."
Ok? And? Where can we see this discussion? I know that you can't put
MP3 support in fedora, but that you can't even put an link for some
European server that has all the codecs? Lawyers say that RedHat can
be sued even for puting links that enable multimedia. Ok, maybe I
believe it but it is maybe possible that some one would sue, but
hardly win that case.
But there are legal ways around that, you can put a text saying that
it is legal to enable multimedia codecs only if you live in a country
that doesn't have software patents - like I do.
It is possible if you want it - Ubuntu has shown that because they
will be doing just that, and even a step beyond that. Ubuntu will have
a Ubuntu for European market and other countries that don't have
software patents (my country doesn't!) with all multimedia codecs
embedded within the distro!
So please let's start the discussion because believe me there is a
great need for this because there are lot's media files that are
every where (internet, youtube, divx rips of dvds, etc...) that people
have a need to watch and listen.
Hope to hear from Fedora/RedHat developers and Desktop usability
experts what are their opinions.
I will make this email available also on my blog:

so you can leave/read comments there also.

running Fedora on a Mac Intel
by Claude Jones
Subject says it all - I'm asking for a friend. Can it be done? Does it work
well? Pointers to sites welcomed - I'm already searching but, good leads
appreciated. If anyone has other distros they think would be better, I'd be
glad to hear about that, too.
