temporary IP addition to firewall rules
by Noah
Hi,
Does anybody have a recommendation for a program out there that would
allow somebody to enter an account and password on my website, their IP
address is cached, and the cached IP address is added temporarily to the
firewall ruleset to be allowed.
cheers,
Noah

Hi people!
by Alex Miua
Hi everyone : )
I finally was successful in installing FC6. It looks
pretty neat.
One question : Are only the 1st 3 Cd's required to
install FC 6 ? What the the remaining CD's for ?
Thank you,
Alex.

I attempted to reproduce the problem earlier today by going through the
same set of actions that preceded the lock-up I described earlier. The
system is still running normally at this time. I'll give it a little
bit longer (overnight) and see how it's doing tomorrow.
My experience with the laptop is pretty much as you described: I used it
extensively running FC4 with no problems. This is the first "random
crash" since installing FC6. I am running ndiswrapper with the Windows
driver for my Broadcomm wireless NIC so the system is "tainted." The
only way I can use the bcm43xx wireless drives is if I disable security
on my AP which I'm not going to do.
Cheers,
Dave

One reason I ended up running network cable to most of the rooms of our
house was the trouble I had trying to get a friend's laptop to connect
to my AP (it's also nice to have a gigabit LAN through the house). If I
have trouble getting a system to connect and I have full access and know
"everything", it should at least be fairly difficult for someone who
doesn't have such access and knowledge.
I run WEP (will probably go to WPA when I find time to diddle with
setting it up), filter MACs and don't broadcast ESSID. I know that
theoretically this set up isn't absolutely secure but I'm guessing I've
raised the bar high enough that I'll keep the script kiddies, access
scofflaws and all but the really serious crackers out. Also, a quick
scan of the APs in the neighborhood indicates there are several that are
much easier to crack (or just use).
Cheers,
Dave

What's the joke about the two guys hiking together and they start
talking about what to do if the run into a bear. One asks the other,
"How fast can you run?" His companion replies, "Don't be silly. You
can't outrun a bear." The first guy relies, "I don't have to outrun the
bear. I just need to be able to run faster than you."
I always hike with people who are slower than me. :D

Dave
