Ferarri Internet
by Mark Thomas
I have a Ferrari 3400 Laptop and I am playing with FC5t2. I was delighted to see that there was a driver for the wirekess device as I have never had a Linux box connected to the Internet. I have a D-link-534 router in the house which connects 3 Windows computers. I assumed that it would be easy to connect the Linux computer to the router., but I am having problem and I don't underatand why. I have tried a number of settings, but none will activate. Here is the last setting I tried
Addr. DHCP
Mode: Auto
SSID: Enigma
Chan 5
Trans 1M
Key 0xnnnnnnnnnn
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your time

MySQL 5.0 on FC4
by Dave Cross
I'm thinking of installing MySQL 5 on my FC4 system. Has anyone had
any problems doing this, or is it plain sailing? And would you
recommend the rawhide RPMs or the ones from the MySQL web site?
And then, if that's a success, I'm considering doing the same on a
server that is running FC2. Is that a completely stupid idea?
Cheers,
Dave...

fedora-list archive
by Malcolm Candlish
Sirs,
Could anyone please point me in the direction of the 'fedora-list' archive.
I made this request a week or so ago but due to my incoming mail
bouncing I missed out on replies.

Re: Issues with kernel 2.6.15 and other updates this morning
by P. Ekholm
Hi!
I have noticed that the "quiet" boot option is in place in the grub.conf file
but it is'nt booting in quiet mode. Why? It happened when i updated to the
latest kernel (2.6.15). The strange issues with the x session is'nt here on
my box though. I wondering about why it won't boot in quiet mode.

Text processing
by Dan Track
Hi
I've got the following output
Col1 Col2 Col3 Col5
1 000 001 Yes
2 000 001
3 000 001
4 Yes Yes
4 000 001
4 000 001
5 000 001
5 Yes 001
6 000 001 Yes
As you can see the column widths vary in size. What I need to do is to
find out The number in Col1 that is associated with all those "Yes"
occurrences in Col5. How can I do this.
I've tried the following
cat file | tr -s ' ' ' ' | tr -s '\t' ' ' | cut -d ' ' -f 6
But I get a result like this
Hi
I've got the following output
Col1 Col2 Col3 Col5
1 000 001 Yes
2 000 001
3 000 001
4 Yes Yes
4 000 001
4 000 001
5 000 001
5 Yes 001
6 000 001 Yes
As you can see one of the "Yes" statements has moved into the third
column, so that's a wrong move.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

quota changing mystery
by akonstam@trinity.edu
We are having a quota changing problem. We have 50+ clients receiving
their authentication through NIS from a single server. These accounts
are all assigned an appropriate quota.
The problem is that periodically some of these quotas change an go
back to the values of a special users quota whose quota we use to
assign to new users.
No one will admit to changing these quotas intentionally. Can anyone
think of a way that the quotas could be changed by the system?
We are at the point of believing in ghosts in the server.
