Your suggestion did not work. I was told it did not exist. Now I am
using the Internet Connection Wizard. The driver I am using is the one found
by FC5t2. After selecting the driver, I entered information to give to the
wireless. The wizard called the connection "eth1." (I did substitue eth1 for
your wlan0 when trying your suggestion.) When I go to activate the
connection (where is runs "ifup", I am told that it failed.

Remote code and compile with GUI from Windows to Linux?
by Arthur Pemberton
Hey guys,
I have a multi-programmer project coming up. The application will be
compiled, run and tested on a remote Linux box. I myself use FC4 + KDE +
KDevelop, but the others with whom I will be working using Windows + Visual
Studio 2k3. Are there any higher level (for lack of a better term) ways for
them to code their share of the project from Windows besides Putty +
Vim/Emacs ?
Your suggestions will b e much appreciated.

Knowledge base software
by Paul Smith
Dear All
I would like to organize the tips that I have collected from several
mailing lists and elsewhere. Is there some software appropriate for
that? I am aware that I could create a document with some text editor,
but I am thinking about something similar to "knowledge bases".
Thanks in advance,

Wireless DWL-G510 driver on fedora4
by Luciano Costa
Hi all,
I tried to install and configure the driver for DWL-G510 d-link on fedora 4.
Fisrtly, I installed following rpm packages:
madwifi-kmdl-2.6.14*
madwifi-0.9.6.0-18*
reboot
and when I restarted the machine, it search the wireless driver and shows
the message:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Error for wireless request "Set mode" (8B06)
SET failed on device ath0; Invalid argument
-----------------------------------------------------------------
When I see the configuration in the system setup of network manager, it's
shown this:
---------------------------------------------
ath0(Atheros Communication, Inc..Unknown device 001a)
---------------------------------------------
What should I do ?!?!
Have someone here that installed wireless driver for DWL-G510 (Atheros's
driver) on fedora ?!?!

cups-pdf && SELinux problem running
by Samuel Díaz García
Dear Guys, I had working in run cups-pdf and it works with SELinux disables or
relaxed, but ... cups-pdf don't works with SELinux "enforced".
Anyone who know better than me the "SELinux" architecture could help me with
this problem?
I attach the audit.log latter in the conversation with cups-pdf developers.
Could anyone help saying what I need to configure in SELinux (and how) to allow
cupspdf works with SELinux?

I'll try to find more info about SELinux, but appears that cups-pdf fails in 2
points:
1) SELinux don't allow cups-pdf browse directories.
2) SELinux don't allow cups-pdf get attributes info from files.
I'll google a bit to find more info about solve this problem and say you
(perhaps a miniFAQ about cups-pdf and SELinux will be usefull for some users).
I don't think the problem were (with 2.0.4 at least) with cups-pdf, but think
that a little reference in web page about configuring with SELinux would be a
good idea.
As I said, I'll try find more information in the www.
Regards and many thanks for your support (Volker and Remi).

OOo PDF export bloat: including fonts in PDFs
by Charles Curley
Every month I write and export a certain document as PDF so I can send
it to the client. It has been in the 3KB range. All of a sudden it has
gone to 432 KB.
The difference is that I have gone to a fresh hard drive with a fresh
installation of FC4 and OOo 2.0. The previous installation is FC4 and
OOo 1.4 upgraded to 2.0.
The large files include fonts, the small ones do not. As far as I can
tell, the document does not use the included font.
How can I find out which fonts are included and which are not?
Thanks

CD/CDR Operation
by Andy Pickens
I have Fedora 4, Thunderbird, and Firefox working pretty well, except
for the CDs. if I try to mount a music CD on the CD reader, or a blank
CD on the CDR drive, I get the message:
"Could not determine filesystem type, and none was specified."
Gtoast goes through the motions of working, but fails. (I didn't write
down the message, but it sent me places that were no help.)
A little guidance will be appreciated.
