Where is bonobo_main()?
by Nimit Dhulekar
Hey
I've been looking for this function bonobo_main() but I can only find the declaration in the libbonobo reference manual under entry for bonobo-main.
If anybody knows where I can find the definition for this function please reply quickly.

Compiling/generate 32-bit version of a program on x86-64
by Reuben D. Budiardja
Hello,
My platform is AMD-64 running Fedora 4 64-bit version. Is there a way for me
to compile and generate 32-bit version of a program ( in C )? How does one do
that using GCC ? Since 64-bit version also install all the 32-bit
compatibility library, that should not be a problem, is it ?
One of the reasons I want to do this because I have an object file ( .o ) that
I need to link againts, but the object file is in 32-bit, and I don't have
the source to regenerate the object file. During linking, ld generates
warning :
/usr/bin/ld: warning: i386 architecture of input file `api/render.o' is
incompatible with i386:x86-64 output
and the program will segfaults if run, which does not happen if I compiled the
program in 32-bit machine. But since my working desktop is 64-bit, I am
wondering if there's a way for me to do it without having to look for 32-bit
machine.
Thanks for any help.

Nagios plugins
by J. K. Cliburn
Nagios plugins aren't included with either the nagios or nagios-devel
rpms from Fedora Extras. Is there another package I'm overlooking that
might contain them?
I've downloaded the source from nagios.org and built the plugins myself,
but they seem like a pretty important part of the overall nagios
strategy to be left out of the rpms.
TIA,

Ryan, make sure you check out openvpn: http://openvpn.net
It's a great product.

formating external USB hard drive
by François Patte
Bonjour,
I have a USB hard drive and 3 questions:
1- I suppose that this hd is dos-formatted by default. Is it because
this that I had a problem of file size limitation? I couldn't create a
file more than 4.2Gb.
2- Is the problem will be the same with an ext3 file system, and will
udev/hotplug/hal recognize and automatically mount the device if I
format it with mkfs.ext3?
3- How to format the external hd, for it has to unmounted before being
formated?
Thanks for help.

done a mkfs on the drive to rebuild the file system,

hp-toolbox
by Peter Lesterhuis
Hi,
Since the last update of hplip (0.9.7-4.2) hp-toolbox doesn't function
anymore. When I type hp-toolbox the hp-toolbox window opens with a red
cross across the printer icon. Before the update the hp-toolbox was
working properly.
The printer is a PSC 2410 all in one. Printing and scanning is without
problem.
I reinstalled the all-in-one following instructions at
http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/install.php, but to no avail: still a
broken hp-toolbox.
I tried to get some help from the hplip-mailing-list, but no suggestions
were posted.
Does anyone have the hp-toolbox still working since the last update on fc4?

Check out nagios and/or cacti. Cacti and Nagios uses snmp, I believe
and nagios is quite extensive and flexible IMO. Not sure if it is
overkill for your needs or hard to setup but I used it for my 13+
home systems. Quite nice and it lets me know immediately if a
system is down or if resources are being depleted. You can use
pagers and email notification and perhaps send a message to your
cell phone.

mysql 5.x
by Dean Maluski
When I first installed RedHat ES4 I wanted to upgrade MySQL.
When I went to install RPM's it complained of a dependency to do with
dovecot. I decided against it since I'm using pop3 and didn't want to
break dovecot. Has anyone upgraded MySQL and had problems?
