How to unpack DVD movie to edit it's video/sound?
by Strong
I wrote recently, but did get any respond, trying to rewrite another
way...
I have a DVD movie, that needs to be edited: video and sound.
Thus the question is: what software i should use to unpack from its
format to the format that will be operable for the video audio
processing as the next step?
Finally, i want to compile it in DVD format again. So, it will be nice
to loose its quality minimally. Big thanks, for Your solutions!

Mailing List software
by Dotan Cohen
Hi all. I have to send the exact asme email to 16 people, with each
one thinking that he is the only recipricant. Until now, i had been
opening new windows in kmail and copying-pasting the text into each
one! But I think that I need mailing list software. Googleing for
"mailing list software linux" gives me 23 million linux mailing lists,
but no software! Is there a 'standard' mailing list program that I
should know about? I don't have a webserver installed on this machine,
though if that is nessaccary I would not mind installing one. It is a
AMD 1.2 ghz box with KDE on FC4. Thanks!

upgrading spamassassin
by Raymond Norton
I have a Fedora core 2 server running spamassassin 2.6. I attempted to
install 3.x, but I am getting many missing deps. I did a yum update, but
it says my version is up to date. Is it possible to install 3.0 without
too much trouble?

"blacklist" means you tell Fedora to not load the module, no matter
what. Add the following line into /etc/hotplug/blacklist and restart:
snd-intel8x0m
That's it! If your problem is the same as mine, after you reboot, sound
should be suddenly working!
Hope this helps you,

display problem in FC4
by Deepak
Hi all,
I have unknown problem with my display in FC4.
My video card is Nvidia RIVA TNT2 (one of the old).
The last driver which support this card is Version:
1.0-7174
<http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_1.0-7174.html>.
Installation of this driver seems to be ok (because
it compiled and installed without any problem) but
after changing to run level 5, the screen goes blank
and X gives error and closes but I can still login
using different tty. I have also set the 'xorg.conf'
setting properly as instructed. Till Fedora Core 3,
this method was working fine but I don't know. It
seems like it stops when loading the "glx" thing. I
guess the log is in the '/var/log/Xorg.0.log' (I am
not sure) but its too long to post here.
if anybody encountered this problem or have a solution
please help me.
Actually the default driver of linux is fine for my
videocard but I have a dual boot system and driver of
two system seems to work litle differently coz' i need
to adjust my monitor setting everytime I change from
linux to windows and vice versa.
Thanks in advance

Official hibernate/sleep package for FC4 ?
by Chris Jones
Hi,
Are they any official packages for FC4 that provide hibernate/sleep support ?
I have my own script which I run to suspend to memory, and until recently
worked fine. It does things like remove problematic modules, shutdown
networkmanager etc. and then restart/reinsert them when woken up.
Unfortunately, things seem unstable with the last bunch of updates - sometimes
the network fail to restart and once my keyboard was not working ! I have had
to each time do a hard reset as well to shutdown which is unpleasant, so I
was wondering if there were any packages in the FC4 repos which provide
support for this, so I don't have to maintain my own scripts. I guess its
hardware dependant - but something which covers the most usual gotchas would
be nice if available.
cheers Chris
