RE: OT: Industrial Process modeling
by Birt, Jeffrey
We use Rockwell Software's Arena for this. http://www.software.rockwell.com/arenasimulation/
No, it does not run under Linux, but it's the right tool for the job. I think there might be some demos of how we have used it here: http://web.umr.edu/~autoid/

I haven't looked at SAL for a while, but I would bet that you would find something appropriate in
there under Data Modeling and Visualization. They list programs for nearly any technical application.

OT: Perl, appending to @INC
by Birt, Jeffrey
Hello all,
I just installed kdebindings-perl from an rpm. The mmodules were installed in a directory that is not in my @INC. I've been searching for a method of appending to @INC to include the new library path rather than have a use lib in the script. What I found so far says:
set PERL5LIB to path or
perl -Ipath
The first accomplishes nothing, the second just seems to hang.
Is there another way? For now I just copied the dcomp stuff to another library that is in @INC
Thanks,
Jeff

apache-2.0.51 on fc2 - error
by Saurabh Barve
Hi,
The apache list wasn't much help, so I am trying my luck here. I am
running apache-2.0.51 on an FC2 machine.
When I try to run apachectl command, I get a weird error:
[root]# apachectl status

Has anybody else seen this error before?
Here's more information about apache and the fc2 installation-

how much of my config can be saved in a fresh install
by Claude Jones
My system is experimental, a Linux learning box. It's got so many problems at
this point that I want to just start over. What can I save? I know there's a
lot of configuration stuff in my home folder. Should I back up all those
files - will I be reintroducing problems by trying to apply them? Are there
other files/folders I should back up? Any suggestions and comments would be
appreciated. I'm thinking of things like my Kmail files and such - most of
the stuff I just want to rebuild from scratch.

i'm trying to figure out how to install FC3 on a RH8 system with a
floppy/harddrive, no cdrom.
i've create the two floppy disk/boot floppies... i get the part where i get
the 'boot:' prompt. when i enter 'linux askmethod', the system goes ahead
and boots the existing linux/kernel (rh8).
so, what do i need to do to actually kick in the anaconda/fc3 installer to
put FC3 on the system...
i'm trying to get to the point where i actually have the FC3 install gui...

HP Deskjet 825C and FC3.
by Olle & Susan
Dear Sir/Madam.
I have FC3 installed on a Sony Vaio RB30. When I try to print from the
Gimp it
takes about 8 minutes for a picture to start printing. More often than
not I have to unplug the printer from power
before it will start printing. If I hit print it will print one page
w/the following:
%! PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Creator: Print plug-in V4.2.7 - 15 Jul
2004 for GIMP/Gimp-Print
Then it will spit out two blank pages. Then just sit there until i cycle
power on the printer.
This, as far as I know, is a recent problem on this machine.
Anybody have any suggestions ?
Thank you in advance
Olle

floppy bootdisk...
by bruce
hi..
i tried to create a floppy bootdisk on a RH8 system. when i insert the
floppy and reboot, i get the 'boot' prompt. however, when i enter 'linux
askmethod' the system goes ahead and continues to reboot, using the current
RH operating system. the system never starts the installation process for
the new FC. i used the following command to create the boot disk.
am i lacking/misunderstanding something?
thanks

RHEL Licensing question
by Johannes Findeisen
Hello all,
i have a problem on finding the licensing information for the Red Hat
Enterprise Linux Software. Is this software free? Okay, i know the packages
must be free but are there Tools in the package that aren't free?
Or could i download the _30_day_trial_, install it on a customers server and
let it run for some month? Okay thats a bad idea because i don't will get
updates but thats not my question... ;-)
I must say, that i am not planning to get as much i can for free, but i really
would like to understand... I am using Fedora and Gentoo anyway!
Regards

Has anyone tried a cluser configuration ?
by Gavin David
Hi all,
I'm trying to build a cluster using a DELL PowerVault 220S and two DELL
PE2650 servers with PERC 3/DC controllers. I've found some info on the Red Hat
site about a $500 per node Cluster Suite (plus $ for ES or AS subscription per
node) - but very little on how it is actually set up. Is there anyone out there
who has any experience with this sort of thing under FC ?
Thanks,
Dave Gavin
