PHP-Nuke 7,4 Borken on FC2?
by Rhugga
I just installed PHP-Nuke 7.4 and have hit a roadblock. (I have ran nearly every major version
since early 5.x days and have yet to reach a problem I could not work around) Hopefully it is
something simple I missed but there really isn't a lot that can be mis-configured with PHP-nuke.
First I installed into /usr/local/httpd-2.0.51/htdocs/phpnuke. (cp -rp PHP-Nuke-7.4/html
/usr/local/httpd-2.0.51/htdocs/phpnuke ; chown -R root:apache2
/usr/local/httpd-2.0.51/htdocs/phpnuke) I created a "nuke" database and executed the nuke.sql file
to create the database objects (mysql nuke -p < nuke.sql). (afterwards I had 88 tables created in
the nuke database) I set the DB options in config.php. The file config.php is owned by root, it's
group is apache2, and it's perms are 0640. The webserver runs as user apache2 and group apache2.
I verified that I can connect to mysql as the user defined in config.php.
#su - apache2
#mysql -u nukeadm -p
Enter password:
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 29 to server version: 3.23.58
Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.
mysql> use nuke
Reading table information for completion of table and column names
You can turn off this feature to get a quicker startup with -A
Database changed
I created the nukeadm user 3 times, 1 for connections from localhost, localhost.localdomain, and
myhost.mydomain.com. All 3 require a password.
However, whenever I try and connect to http://myserver/phpnuke/ I get a page citing this error:
There seems to be a problem with the MySQL server, sorry for the inconvenience.
We should be back shortly.
I then purposely changed the perms on config.php so that the apache2 group had no access just to
see if I get a different error and I did. So it is not a file permission issue. I then decided to
do a (chmod -R 0777 /usr/local/httpd-2.0.51/htdocs/phpnuke/) for sanity sake and same error. So
I'm convinced this insn't a file perm issue (unless php-nuke now detects too lenient of perms
which I highly doubt it since it is very insecure to being with) Also, normally when you have a
file perm issue you get an error similiar to this:
Warning: main(config.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in
/usr/local/httpd-2.0.51/htdocs/phpnuke/mainfile.php on line 86
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'config.php'
(include_path='.:/usr/local/php-4.3.9/lib/php') in
/usr/local/httpd-2.0.51/htdocs/phpnuke/mainfile.php on line 86
I use a ton of other PHP based web stuff so the PHP installation is not the issue. FYI: I am using
PHP version 4.3.9 compiled as a module for http-2-0.51.
I am using the default version of mysql included with FC2 and the lib directory is listed in
/etc/ld.so.conf.
Anyone have any ideas??
Thx

CVS Browser that DOES NOT need world read
by Chris Stankaitis
Hi All I am looking for some help finding a web based CVS Browser that
does not require world read on the CVS Repository, we have been using
Chora, but it doesn't provide the level of security we need.
I run about 6 different CVS repo's and need to be able to ACL the cvs
web viewer such that users only can browse the code on the web that they
are supposed to see and not the whole repo as it is right now. This
will also let me take world read off the dir's on server which will
ensure only people with access to that particular part of CVS will be
able to se it regardless of if they are on server or on the web.
Anyone know any programs that do this? that allow me to say user A has
access to Repository a,b,d and not c,e,f
Thanks!

help with making a FC2 CD bootable
by Steven C. Liu
Folks,
I've come to the conclusion that I've burned my CD's correctly. I used
Nero, Sonic and various XP "wizards" and stuff to burn the FC2 discs onto
CD. Everyone burns fine, except that I can't make disc1 properly bootable.
Can someone please -- PUHLEEZE -- help me out here? This shouldn't be so
hard. My CD-RW drive is on my PC running XP Pro SP2.
What I think I need is a way to burn a small bootstrapping code as the first
record of the CD. That small bootstrapping code will point BIOS to the real
boot program and to teh rest of the boot up sequence. Can someone supply me
with the bootstrapping code?
TIA,
Steve

RE: Disk Array > 2TB
by Omar Castañeda Acosta
Actually, I've done this before with other file systems.
Ext2 & Ext3 work (you receive a warning)
VFAT and MSDOS won't work
XFS will work without warnings
Other file systems I need to test. But I think I already did something like this with reiserfs before.
Omar
PS. Didn't want to post in HTML was this stupid outlook.

Hm, no partition used but the device /dev/sdb? How is that working? Is
xfs special in that way?
Alexander
P.S. Please post in plain text and not html formatted to this list.
Thanks.

Two Questions
by Kiwi-Hawk
Hi
I've been looking for the turn off Nautilus so I can run
Enlightenment as my Window manager and didn't find it yet
So question one is where do I do that
I went to burn the updates and downloads I have gotten down with
uptodate and yum I now know less you say so uptodate clears them out)
I have K3b loaded and I setup all the files I wanted to burn and hit
burn,.. can't fins a suitable burner you can only make an image
I have installed an LG DVD-CDRW combo drive.
I guess these are going to be a problem as the system can't auot detect
the burner in them is this right?
Cheers

cut and paste from Evolution to ANYthing...
by W. Guy Thomas
I have googled this and see that there is a problem cutting and pasting
from Evolution to any other app. It turns into one long line.
I have tried changing the format of the document from Western ISO... to
everything from Chinese to Timbukthree. That doesn't fix the issue.
Did anyone ever run across this and find a fix?

Fedora Core 3 Test 2 Questions
by cajun
Morning Everyone,
Well I figure I had better take the plunge before this thing gets to far
ahead of me. Anyways I have a couple of questions:
Running RH9 on Dell PowerEdge 1600SC
I am getting ready to install FedoraCore3 Test2 and was wondering if
anyone can give me some pointers:
1. Should I do this as a fresh install or do an upgrade? Would I run
into less troubles by doing a fresh install?
2. I remember when I installed RH9 the first time I had some troubles
getting DSL up and running. Is getting DSL up and running a little
easier in FC3T2 or will I need to use a third party pppoe like I did in RH9?
3. Would it be better to get FC2 and waiting for the finial release of FC3?
Thanks for the info!!!!
