FC2 and Webmin
by Robert Slade
Hi
I'm new to Linux and am trying Fedora, so I am not too sure what I am
doing :-(.
I'm having trouble with Webmin and FC2 with SSL. I have openssl
installed (from the FC2 CDs, but I am having trouble with NET::SSLeay. I
managed to download this from freshrpms, but that still gave me the same
error when trying to activate SSL in Webmin. I have also tried
downloading the .tar but that did not compile. Having read the
documentation, I believe the problem is with different compiler versions
used.
Can someone point me to a (simple) howto or advise me what I am doing
wrong.

I guess everybody that has seen this message has to set their
computer on fire and soak their brain in bleach :)
Disclaimer:
Please do no soak you brain in bleach. Above message is only there
to make you smile.
anyway PHB attaches this to all the outgoing emails.
Thank you everybody for pointing me in the correct direction.
/etc/hosts was the problem.
Since my machine name is:
mycomputer1
and static IP for it is 10.33.12.31
I added
10.33.12.31 mycomputer1
to hosts file
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
was there already
problem solved

description of fedora core 2 device driver disks and how to roll your own?
by Urs Rau
I am trying to put together a fedora core 2 device driver disk (version
1 if possible) for hardware where the vendor does not yet have updated
driver disks for fedora.
I have a Highpoint Technology RocketRaid 1640 Sata and need to make a
driver disk for the fc2 2.6.x kernel as well as some fc2 2.6.x
customised kernel.
Sofar I only have the following pieces of info.
Does anybody know where someone might have already done the work of
scripting the process or at least documenting the steps required?
The excellent but outdated devel kit by Doug Ledford
http://people.redhat.com/dledford/
Some description of the process by a user that needed a firewire driver
for FC2:
http://www.ic.unicamp.br/~oliva/snapshots/FC2-firewire/0README
and two very short but related articles explaining the old redhat way of
doing driver disks and the difference between the older redhat and the
newer fedora driver disks.
http://faq.linux.cz/pracovni/driver-disk-howto
http://www.wormgoor.com/print.php?sid=68
This is as much as I have to date. But surely somebody out there has
already coded/scripted a framework to ease this task? My 3 specific
questions are:
1. any official (or other) document describing the format of the version
1 driver disks (for fedora 2.6.x kernels)?
2. any texts giving the instructions on how to roll your own device
driver disk (for fedora 2.6.x kernels)?
3. any scripts or frameworks that are already written to do this
creation of a version 1 device driver disk (for fedora 2.6.x kernels)?
Any help or pointers are greatly appreciated. I am also just starting to
look at the Dell dkms project http://linux.dell.com/projects.shtml ,
thanks Doug for the hint.

USB diskonkey lost with kernel 2.6.6+?
by Leon Stringer
Hi,
I used to use my USB key with FC2. I'd plug it in and could use it at
/mnt/diskonkey.
Unfortunately it no longer works. I think it stopped working when I
updated my kernel. I'm now on 2.6.8-1.251 (from the Fedora updates
folder) and when I check /var/log/messages it shows:
Aug 30 17:47:59 localhost kernel: usb 3-2: new full speed USB device
using address 2
Aug 30 17:48:00 localhost kernel: Initializing USB Mass Storage
driver...
Aug 30 17:48:00 localhost kernel: usb-storage: probe of 3-2:1.0
failed with error -1
Aug 30 17:48:00 localhost kernel: usbcore: registered new driver
usb-storage
Aug 30 17:48:00 localhost kernel: USB Mass Storage support registered.
Is there a known issue here? Has the later kernel broken this? Is there
a workaround?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Leon...
