ATI drivers for Laptop
by Martijn Bronkhorst
Hello,
I'm not sure if i am saying this right, but i'm trying to configure a ATI
128 mobility video card while using fedora core 2. The drivers for linux
that ati offers did not do the trick.
I really need to get this working, because I need an external monitor now
first before I ever see the display right. And on a laptop, this isn't very
nice.
If you can help me out, please do.
Thanx in Advance

by Nina Pham
I just installed FC2 and configured network. However, I can not ping
anything except localhost, nor rlogin to the system from my pc. How do I
check if my FC2 system actually is able to access to the internet?

network install
by Simon Tierney
Thanks for replying about my installation problem on the mashita dvd multi drive.
I have broadband but I have never successfully installed over a network connection.
It makes sense to me that the installation of Fedora2 is stalling due to lack of a driver because this is a new laptop.
Can someone give me a URL and some instructions how to do a network install after booting to the CDROM?
Thanks for any help.

Installing/storing on a USB external drive
by Ken Wolman
Problem: I had been able to install "standard" Red Hat on a somewhat
aging Celeron with a 10GB hard drive to which I added a Maxtor 40GB USB
2.0 external drive. Partition Magic "liked" the external, too. It
seems that whatever I'm doing wrong, Fedora 2 will not recognize that
there is a USB 2.0 disk.
I'd cleared about 125 MB on the original disk for /boot storage with the
intention of loaded the other material on the USB disk. No such luck if
Fedora can't seem to find the drive.
What am I not doing that I should be doing?
Many thanks.

Question about developing programs...
by Andrew Konosky
I have been writing a small program in C++ with KDevelop to calculate
vectors for physics class, and I have compiled and installed it so that
it runs when I type the command in the console, which is really cool! If
I want to cross-compile it to make a windows version to give to some of
my friends, how would I do that? I'm guessing it would just be a DOS
file, since there is no gui?

Certified Linux Laptop
by Lotsa Cabo
I am looking to purchase a new laptop to use for Linux development on
FC2. My requirements are...
>= 1.5 GHz
>= 1.0 GB
>= 60 GB HD
>= 1200 x 1024 NATIVE resolution
CD-RW/DVD-ROM (minimum)
Wireless (11Mb or 54Mb), 10/100/1000 NIC, sound, USB 2.0, PCMCIA
Bluetooth would be nice
Flawless functionality with FC2 and/or RH9
Any "tried and true" suggestions?
Thanx,
Ryan

iiimf installation
by javajunkie
Hello,
I want to use iiimf but as for installation...
1) there is only a core1 dir for yum
2) the testing guide give vague instructions like download the files and
use the standard rpm -ivh.... but
3) there are 15+ rpms under
http://www.apac.redhat.com/iiimftest/files/fc2/
Do I really need them all?

Re: Red Hat Network Up2Date problem
by ayman sabry
Hi,
I'm not sure but I think you should have a registeration on rhn or simply you can update packages you need directly (via web) from redhat

Red Hat Network Up2Date problem
by neil.derraugh@sympatico.ca
Hi,
The up2date icon on my task bar (system tray?) is telling me there are 6 updates to be had (0 ignored). But when I run the app it, after querying the servers, it tells me that my system is up2date (sorry couldn't resist). This has been going on for several weeks (if not months).
Any one know why? Or how to resolve this issue?
Thanks,

un-dual boot XP & FC2 - 2 harddrives
by kate
un-dual boot XP & FC2
How do I correct the boot procedure?
Neither will boot separately. How do I fix this?
BACKGROUND
I have 2 hardrives. hda is XP, and hdb is FC2, managed
by Grub. I want to separate them. I bought drive
trays, so when I want FC2, I put in FC2 tray. When I
want XP, I put in XP tray. RESULT: not dual boot
system.
QUESTION
how do I correct the boot procedure?
WHAT I'VE TRIED
I take out hdb (FC2) and boot hda XP only. I get:
"GRUB hard disk error"
I place FC2 as primary master and adjust jumper as
master:
"
Booting from CD ROM
<goes to next line and waits...forever>
"
So, I think that I need to re-write a mbr, but I'm out
of my depth here. Any help appreciated.
Kate
