nvidia driver question
by thedogfarted
I wonder if i should install nvidia display driver form nvidia.com
instead of my current driver from livna.
i have now installed following rpms:
nvidia-glx-1.0.4620-0.lvn.18.1
kernel-module-nvidia-2.4.22-1.2174.nptl-1.0.4620-0.lvn.18.1
nvidia-glx-devel-1.0.4620-0.lvn.18.1
and now i've downloaded NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run
The reason why i want to install is that i still have Mesa's GL header
files in /usr/include. If i remember correctly, nvidia's install
replaced them with their own, and this is what i need.
Why they weren't replaced when i installed driver from rpm? Can i safely
just get the nvidia's GL header files and replace the existing ones?

Dude.. K3B is a Frontend for cdrdao and cdrecord..
Just like x-cdroast etc.
CDRdao is the way to go but I think cdrecord also supports DAO.
I used to have a working cdrdao but then I upgraded to 2.6 kernel
and it's now broken.. (since 2.6 uses ide-cd) and it wants a newer
version but newer version can't install due to dependency problems
etc.. yadda..yadda..yadda..

Just to let you know.. There's X-Cdroast and gtoaster but they're
nothing compared to k3b I guess.
I run k3b under Gnome but I also have a default install of KDE.
Just in case, for instances like these..

second XServer?
by Peter Boy
Unfortunately the Red Hat search facility for the mailing lists is
currently unavailable. Sometimes ago there was a discussion how to start
a second XServer on the same machine using a different XF86config file
(usually I use a dual head configuration, but some progs are crashing
the system in dual head mode (e.g. Open Office) so I wish to set up a
second display using <Ctrl><F8> which uses a single display
configuration).
Does someone remember the details?
Thanks

What does it mean and how can I make it play again (previous releases
seemed to be o.k.)???
