rpm -Fvvh ftp://rpmupdate:rpmupdate@homer.netz-von-frank/Fedora/2/update/mkisofs-2.01.1-0.FC2.1.i386.rpm
rpm says:
Retrieving

at the logfile on the server i can find a error messge about vsftpd that say:

The server is static IP = 10.0.010 and is the only Linux machine, all others on the LAN are Windoze DHCP addressed. The router has a real-world static IP from my ISP. I have a NAT entry in the router to send all port 80 traffic to 10.0.0.10

All clients are different flavors of Windoze, so no can do(?)

The DNS server for all machines is the ISP's (at the moment)

Yes I have set up named-based virtual hosts in the Apache config file.

Linux-webhost-semi-newbie: Could you explain how/where to do that please?

That's what I was thinking - outside the router both the client and server will have the same IP address thereby confusing the router as to where the server packets should go(?)

Average succes rate FC2 -> FC3
by Rakotomandimby (R12y) Mihamina
Hello,
I'm quite new to Fedora.
One of our dedicated server have to be switched from FC2 to FC3.
It has a few software installed on it, so the migration should be
"easy".
- Would you know a document explaining the migration ?
- What steps would you warn me on ?
I ask because the server hoster will ask for 99$ to reinstall the server
(with FC2) if I brake the thing (if it cant reboot).
Thank you all.

FC3 Problems: NVidia and SeLinux
by TK
ello.
I am running FC3 here (kernel 2.6.9-1.678_FC3 - not the latest due to other
problems...).
Yesterday I tried to start a game and nothing worked, I got a message like
this:
---------------------
error while loading shared libraries: libgl.so.1: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory
---------------------
So I tried glxgears - same there.
I thought, it was a problem with the nvidia drivers, so I installed them
again. There I got the next strange failure message - don´t remember it
exactly - about avc an denied permissions to following files (all
in /usr/lib/):
libgl.so.1
libGLcore.so.1
libnvidia-tls.so.1
tls/libnvidia-tls.so.1
After this failed installation, X worked still fine, just 3D was still
malfunctioning - same error as above: error loading...
After searching the internet for a while I got the information (I think it
was
in a fedora mailinglist archive), that this may depend on latest the SeLinux
update. I disabled SeLinux - and now it works fine!
My question: is there a way to run SeLinux AND 3D-libs?
A happy new year!
P.S.: Anyone here having the same kernel update probs (no X starting)
afterwards 2.6.9-1.678_FC3??

upgraded from fc2 to fc3. cant mount zip drive anymore
by Riku Seppälä
Hi
Just upgraded from fc2 to fc3. Now I can't mount my internal zip drive
anymore. What fs type should I use? I allways thought it was vfat but now:
# mount /dev/hdb /media/zip/ -t vfat
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdb,
or too many mounted file systems
Any suggestions?

Accessing hosted domains inside a LAN
by Bob Brennan
I have a FC3 machine using Apache to virtual-host several domains, all of which works fine from any machine other than those on the same LAN as the webserver. Entering the URL of any of the hosted domains on a browser on the LAN produces the standard page-not-found error screen. My question is - does anyone know how to enable LAN machines to browse these domains normally?
Some network detail - I have an ADSL firewall router on a static IP address with NAT passing service ports to my FC3 server. The server has a static LAN IP of 10.0.0.10 and all other machines on the LAN are DHCP. The netmask for the server is set to 255.255.255.0 which I suspect may be part of the problem/solution.
Thanks in advance for any insight into this.
