USB to Serial interface to Meade Telescope
by Chuck Sterling
I'm trying to get KStars to control my Meade telescope mount with #497
controller. The setup is a USB to serial converter to the scope
controller. It does work under Windoze, so I'm confident that the basic
idea is sound. But KStars does not find the scope. Can anybody provide
insight or a link to info that might help me move ahead with this?

system.)
My Grub.conf file is :--

I 'm trying to modify the lnux kernel parameters. so; my kernel is
ought to be crashed. is there any shortcut for compiling the linux
kernel. i found very cumbersome that i 've to set parameters every
time i do " make config".
Thanking You

Friends afraid of Linux?
by Tim
Some one told me about www.knoppix.org the guy made a CD that will boot
to KDE and not touch the hard drive. They suggest 128 MB of ram as it
only runs off of the CD and has to run in memory. You can run it with
less memory but check the site to see how.
I downloaded the ISO and burned a CD, and it seemed to find everything
on my machine. I never thought it would make it through my firewall but
I could just hop on the net or use open office. A little slow, but hey
your working off the CD drive.
Now you can say "see Linux ain't so bad as Microsoft said"
And when you are done all you need to do is shut down and remove the CD
and reboot to what ever is on the hard drive.
Now when FC3 comes out they'll want it installed on their machine.

Was this ever dealt-with?
by Brian Fahrlander
"Package galeon needs mozilla = 37:1.7.2, this is not available."
Sound familiar? I've been using "--include" to get past it, but was
there ever an epoch-37 version of Mozilla made and maybe I'm just not
finding it?

looked for drivers for this device without success. I've read on this mailing

1280:1024 is exactly 4:3. How do you get 3.2?

lp and lpr "stdin is empty"
by lyamimlgnqfa@spammotel.com
I just upgraded to Fedora core 2 from core 1, and now lp and lpr
cannot read from standard input.
[allan@mybox bin]$ /usr/bin/lp < /etc/hosts
lp: stdin is empty, so no job has been sent.
[allan@mybox bin]$ /usr/bin/lp /etc/hosts
request id is laserjet-977 (1 file(s))
Printing a file works, but as you see printing from a pipe was busted,
and so any programs that relied on pipes were SOL. I did notice a
nonexistent printer in the /etc/cups/lpoptions file, and I fixed that.
Strange though that only printing a file works.
I wrote a workaround perl script, and noticing that /usr/local/bin was
in the path before /usr/bin, I put it there as a wrapper for the real
lp and lpr programs. At least I can print now. Any thoughts?
Here is my workaround, I named it lp, and symlinked it to lpr:

> # -*- cperl -*-

You can make it one of your startup programs by clicking on preferences/sessions. Then under the startup tab enter the gDesklets program in the provided window.
