Elotouch Xorg Setup
by Petar Nedyalkov
Hello list,
I have some problems with the configuration and installation of an Elo Systems
touchscreen. Following the instructions on Elo's site at
http://www.elotouch.com/Support/linux.asp I added the needed options in the
xorg.conf file:
<snip>
Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Default Layout"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"

EndSection

Option "MinY" "600"
Option "MaxY" "3600"
Option "UntouchDelay" "3"
Option "ReportDelay" "1"
EndSection
</snip>
I detect the touchscreen at /det/ttyS0, but in the Xorg.0.log file I get the
following messages and errors:
<snip>

Since a touch on the screen is detected at the port, and the server starts -
can you tell me where's my mistake?
Has anyone configured an Elo touchscreen under Fedora Core 2?
Thanks.

FC2 to FC3 updgrade- SATA Silicon Image 3112 problem: disabling IRQ 11
by Jon manning
Hi all,
I have a dual-boot Windows XP and Fedora core 2 system, on separate SATA
hard drives interfaced via a Silicon Image 3112 PCI card. On both FC1
and FC2, detection of the drives via the card went fine with no probs at
all. I'm now trying to upgrade to FC3, but am having a problem with the
SATA drivers when I boot from the installation CD something like:
"Loading SATA Sil driver..... disabling IRQ #11"
At which point it hangs. It's the same with text version of
installation.
Anyone got any helpful ideas on how to work around it?
Thanks,
Jon

I have a 4-1 compact flash card reader and a usb mermory stick in fc2
they all worked fine, in fc3 the memory stick works but only one slot in
the card reader works. Any suggestions on how to get the second slot
working.

Apache 2.0.51 on FC2
by Dan Thurman
Hi folks,
I have searched everywhere to for information on how to make all
of my directories non-browsable by default whereever default indexes
do not exist. From what I can tell, I am supposed to either supply
empty
default index files with no content (index.html) or to add a .htaccess
file
in every directory with one both of the following entries:
1) Options -Indexes
2) deny from all
>From my testing, it seems to work going into the forward direction
but not in the reverse direction.
For example:
http://www.foobar.com/dir1/dir2/
a) www.foobar.com has a default index file
b) dir1 does not have a default index file but has .htaccess file
c) dir2 does not have a default index file but has .htaccess file
Testing I got this:
1. http://www.foobar.com
** SUCCESS Page is displayed (and no directory exposure)
2. http://www.foobar.com/dir1
** SUCCESS: "FORBIDDEN" message appears (no directory exposure)
3. http://www.foobar.com/dir1/dir2
** SUCCESS: "FORBIDDEN" message appears (no directory exposure)
4. http://www.foobar.com/dir1/dir2 <<<<< backspace to get:
http://www.foobar.com/dir1
** FAIL! Directory and its contents are EXPOSED!
Please tell me if this is a bug or that I am doing *something*
wrong.....
Best regards,
Dan

Yes

Pop a FC3 cd inside, and use anaconda to upgrade
Yum requires it done in stages - need yum update, then kernel and udev
and initrd, then a few others... its "complicated", possibly

Using "nv" from xorg will work. If you want to use Nvidia binary
drivers, you're on your own

Newbie question...
by Giuseppe Greco
Hi all,
I've just two questions:
1. Is it possible to update Fedora Core1 to Fedora Core2 just via yum?
2. What's the best way to update RedHat 9 to Fedora Core2?
Should running anaconda be enough?
Thanks,
j3d.

Can this go from FC2 to FC3
by Tim
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda2 9487672 4519336 4486388 51% /
/dev/hda1 101086 7789 88078 9% /boot
130 mb ram 300 mhz processor ( yes I only do one thing at a time )
It's pretty slow now with FC2, but will FC3 delete old files and have
room to upgrade? Basically I just read mail and word processing with
it. I have KDE installed but have never used it only Gnome, so there is
some more room if I knew how to remove the KDE.
Or wipe the drive and do a fresh install.
Or quit while I'm ahead.
Thanks Tim...
