What is going on with Bugzilla? If I try to access that bug I'm told that access is denied (even when I'm logged in), and if I search for reported bugs in mysql the only one I get back is 10800 (an unrelated issue). It's as if this bug is being deliberately hidden. Is it common practice to hide bugs in this way? If so then how do I know I'm not just duplicating an existing bug when I file a new report?
This issue is hardly a security threat and it seems unneccesary to prevent anyone from seeing this report, so why is it blocked?
I notice that the original thread about this only arose because the originators reports kept being closed without the issue being resolved.
This hardly encourages confidence in an open and community supported process.
Simon.
PS I notice that after the bug was posted here an immedite fix was supplied. It would be nice if this could be reported through the proper channels though (Bugzilla).

Help!Partition Table Unexpected ?
by wuler_lv
When installing Fedora Core 1,
After I chose "Manually partition with Disk Druid",
A warning windows show :
"The partition table on device /dev/hda is of
an unexpeted type loop for your architecture.
To use this disk for installation of Fedora Core,
it must be re-initialed causing the loss of ALL
DATA on this drive.
Would you like to initialize this drive?"
But I have successfully installed Windows,
Suse and Mandrake in my hard drive ,
they are all running well .
What should I do now ?
Thanks.

I notice that Fedora is staying with MySQL 3.23 rather than 4+. Any
reason for that?

Moderate this list?

I think moderating this list, as suggested, is a good idea. The amount of
abuse (personal opinion and nit-picking) of this mailing list today has
almost convinced me to unsuscribe.

mysqld error
by Amit Bapat
I'm getting a strange error with MySQL in the init scripts. The mysqld
script says "Timeout error occurred while starting MySQL Daemon" and
reports that 'Starting MySQL Failed' But I see that mysql is running fine.
What's the problem?

Man i was really hoping for a very very strong statement about the perils of
upgrading from a test release to an official release this time around. I'm very
wary of a large number of new beta testers, who have had close
association with rawhide, getting burned in a month or so when rawhide
diverges from the fedora updates...because of this very issue.
I humbly suggest that a lot of the new-comers do not have a full
appreciation of what rawhide is, and are going to learn the hard way
when new tech starts showing up for consumption and they are expecting
to get fedora core 1 updates.
I was really hoping for a strong statement in the release annoucements
that upgrading from a test release is not exactly the most advisable
thing to do. For a lot of people, they are just going to upgrade from
their test release install and think they are set to get updates from
the correct update sources and it will still be rawhide, because the
source file is not going to get overwritten.
Desquerre is one of the lucky few who are actually going to take the
time to notice their up2date didnt change source locations.
