private mirror
by Jeff Gustafson
Hello,
I am working with mirrormanager-client to setup a local mirror. I
think I am ready with a single tree (for starters) until I move over my
old directory structure.
I've been running a private mirror for a couple of years now, but the
use of metalink and https is going to kill my setup (I have been using
local DNS redirects).

Dear Mirror-Admin,
I pulled some contents from mirrors.kernel.org using rsync.
But, when I run "report_mirror" command, this message appears.
# report_mirror
"Error checking in. Connection closed before checkin complete. Please try again later."
Why this message appeared?
We want to register on the public mirror list.
Please quick reply!!!

public mirror request

Dear Mirror-Admin,
Our organization would be come a mirror site for Fedora OS.
At this time, we have created account in the MirrorManager, registered own mirror in the mirror manager and pulled some contents from mirrors.kernel.org using rsync.
report_mirror has nothing to do with kernel.org
So we want to register on the public mirror list.

secsup.org Fedora mirror problem report
by Matt Domsch
morrowc, any chance this is a known problem? The download succeeds for me at home on Time Warner, but apparently is failing for this user who works at Red Hat.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=499653
Description From Rajagopal Ramamoorthy (rramamoo(a)redhat.com) 2009-05-07 10:59:53 EDT (-) [reply]
Description of problem:
Downloading Packages:
http://fedora.secsup.org/linux/releases/10/Everything/x86_64/os/Packages/...:
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (101, 'Network is unreachable')>
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 10 x86_64
How reproducible:
Everytime since last few days
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just type yum update in 64bit Fedora 10.
2.
3.
Actual results:
yum uses mirror site to update for all packages
Expected results:
yum should have got to the first site it has in the list if its available. We
do not expect it to be down for too long.
Additional info:
My email id rramamoo(a)redhat.com and I am running Fedora 10 x86_64 on Lenovo
laptop ThinkPad T500. I get this error from all networks I have used so far.

changes for fedora mirror at ftp.iitm.ac.in
by P. Sriram
dear fedora mirror admin,
i have made some changes to the fedora mirror at ftp.iitm.ac.in. i made
corresponding changes in the mirromanager wiki system, but there seems to
be some hitch. in order to better manage the traffic being generated by
fedora, we have moved the service from http://ftp.iitm.ac.in/fedora to
http://fedora.iitm.ac.in (which is an apache virtual server running on the
same ftp.iitm.ac.in host). however, this seems to not be working and our
mirror has dropped out of the public mirrors list. the service continues
to be available at fedora.iitm.ac.in (and is being used!) and the old url
gives a http 301 redirect to the new site at fedora.iitm.ac.in. if i am
missing something that i need to do, please let me know.

Private mirror creation
by Dave Torrey
Hello!
I'm sending the requested message to mirror-admin(a)fedoraproject.org to
let you know I'd like to set up a private mirror for my company.
Not sure if you need this, then, but:
IP: 24.213.19.99
Country: US (Michigan)
Bandwidth: n/a
Incidentally, the instructions for sending this message
(http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/Mirroring) are a bit muddy
on the actual address(es?). The one given first does not appear to be
valid:
mirror-admin@fedoraproject.org,ftp+fedora(a)redhat.com
so I'll try splitting at the logical place and sending to two addresses.
Mailing-list subscription requests to follow.
Thanks,
Dave

Getting problem for installing fedora
by jaddoo yadhav
Dear Mr/Mrs 3 or 4 days ago i downloaded Linux fedora on this link,http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/10/Live/..., I extracted it as it was a rar file and there was not any ISO file but the files in the folder I burnt it on a boot able disc using Nero and rebooted my system. Caldera dr-dos started and Linux fedora started to install and after some second after i see A:\> on the screen and as i do not have any notion of Caldera dr-dos or ms dos i cannot continue the installation. Please help me as i really have to use it and i will be very grateful to you.
Yours faithfullyYadhav JaddooMauritius Island
