Please describe what action or positive change could be adopted based on
this feedback:
Proposal for handling unregistered users on IRC - By default, most IRC
clients can be told to autoconnect and issue identify messages to
NickServ.
Unfortunately the ident message isn't sent quick enough resulting in being
dumped into #fedora-unrgistered.
A workaround exists that the user can "{{{ /set irc_join_delay 10 }}} in
xchat to delay joining 10 seconds" but this is a kludge and forces each
user to configure the setting which seems to be contrary the fedora idea
of fixing the bugs at the layer they occur rather than issuing
workarounds.
I propose two possible solutions but they're not exhaustive - I'm not an
IRC expert, just a user.
1. Set users to -v such that they have no voice in the main channel until
identified?.
2. Get #fedora-unregistered to kick back to #fedora when a user has been
identified.
Any additional notes or logs:
None. Thanks for the pointers and being open to suggestions.
Thanks for your feedback!
