Conversation with people of #fedora-social that abuse me, commenting non-
related facts of my country with a answer about fedora russian and skype
and other person making remarks about that es language is "Mexican't" and
I speak "You say spinach I say Mexican't" and a non polite attitude.-
They +q mode 2 times with excuses without a real fundament. Fenris02 start
a conversation about crimes and war in my country for a example of the non
legal in my country (i was asking for legal terms of fedora russian
compiling Skype in koji).
I respond with "read plan condor", that involves CIA and my country about
crimes and war, so... +q applied to me. I mentioned nigger word in ironic
mode, because i felt the racist or no tolerant of the US soul with Latin
people, for the comment of Evilbob like '''"<EvilBob> nix\: As long
as you don't claim to be American, we will be OK"''' WHAT IS IT?, 100%
pure racism, why I'm not american?, I'm what?, sudaca?, chicano?, What
Bob?.. Sorry but I'm american, America is a continent, United States a
country. I feel that Evilbob and fenris02 have some intolerance to the bad
english or non US people of regions like south america, arabic and black
people. Before the incident, Evilbob be offended because a user say "bro",
and he clear me in fedora-social that bro is used by a ethnicity in US (i
know that afro people), so, WHY offend you?, what is the problem of Bob
Jensen with the black people?.
Other thing, I sended a Email to fenris02, because he no allow pm or
notices, and he respond me in the fedora-social again, acussing me of say
that HE is racist, the mail is at your disposal if you wish look it. I
only seek for a explanation of the mistreat with my person and expose of
history of my country, a bad piece of the history for a question about
fedora.
Today, one night later, again, DiscordianUK +q me because he say: "I
suggest you stop the whingeing", BUT the start of the conversation is by
fenris02 in answer to my Email, so, I disturbing?, i don't think so.
Sorry for my bad english but i speak natively spanish, if no can
understand the ticket tell me and I translate with a professional
traductor in 24 hours. I want that the fact is clarified. I want help,
promote and support fedora, no support abuse of intolerant people.

---------------------------+------------------------
Hello everybody,
My IRC nickname is mribeirodantas and I attend several Fedora channels.
I'm a Fedora Ambassador involved in Freemedia/Localization/Marketin teams.
Recently, there was some noise about a specific section in the channel
FAQ[1], on the official wiki of Fedora Project. Some people came to
#fedora-latam and complained, others shared their disappointment with
friends in Fedora Project and some even posted in their blogs about it[2].
Cuba is located in Latin America, so maybe that's the reason for so many
latin americans complaining about this section.
As I explained to nirik a few minutes ago (who told me to file this
ticket), I'm here to help. I [obviously] understand we can't change US law
and I'm not interested in it. However, it seems to me some people
considered the section offensive and many showed to be confused about
Fedora Project intentions. Putting it in fewer words, I think the section
should be better worded so that it shows *why* it's the way it is and how
Fedora Project feels about it.
I'm not sure if I understood it correctly, but it seems to me [and I like
to believe it this way] Fedora Project stands for its contributors. So if
I feel bad, legal or ethically speaking, about helping someone in those
countries, it's just ok. Fedora Project says to me it's ok to choose to
help or not, it's not a problem. Besides, it's not that people have to
join the channel with a scar saying "I'm Cuban" or something.
I like to be honest to people and in exchange to get back honesty. So if I
feel that for any reason someone should know something about me, or
otherwise they would feel bad, I let them know.
I hope I have managed to express myself in a good way. If you guys have
any questions on how to better word it, please, I'd like to help.
Best regards,

Please describe what action or positive change could be adopted based on
this feedback:
Dear Fedora Project rockstars,
Mainly my thought is that feedback should be easier to provide. I
understand the need to validate users to reduce/eliminate spam. I
understand there are some technical aspects to the current ticketing
system that make it very convenient. But feedback should be easier.
It's a core aspect of human behavior modification: to encourage adoption,
new behaviors must be incentivized. We want people to provide valid
feeback, right? How do we incentivize feedback?
Of course, a user with a good or bad experience may feel the incentive
automatically to tell people about it, and wilfully and purposefully seek
out a way to provide feedback. Unfortunately, I think these people are the
minority, and provide a generally skewed picture anyway - you're only
getting extremely motivated (and thus, biased) people's feedback, and thus
only dealing with the corner cases, and so the feedback is less useful.
In addition to these rare, powerful internally motivated cases, #fedora
has provided additional incentives in the simplest, most efficient way
possible: by asking. The repeating message from fedbot simply asks people
to provide feedback, and this is a great idea. However it is a fairly weak
incentive.
If a user does decide to provide feedback, they are presented with a text-
heavy, boring page - a weak counter-incentive. They are required to create
an FAS account, which while not difficult, is at the very least
inconvenient, especially for a new user who only wants to provide moderate
feedback. This, I would say, is a stronger counter-incentive. The
significance of these counter-incentives to providing feedback must not be
ignored.
If the goal of this feedback system is to get high-quality, regular
feedback that can help guide IRC improvements, we should (continue to)
increase incentives and/or decrease counter-incentives.
Some ideas to do this, and relative effort to accomplish each:
1. Simplify and beautify the feedback landing page with graphics and
charts, especially colorful buttons and a "how to feedback" graphical
flowchart. Easy.
2. Simplify and beautify the feedback form itself - it doesn't need to
look like a bug report to the user if it's just feedback on an IRC convo.
Keywords? Blocked by? Severity? Priority? From a noob perspective, these
things are confusing and do not provide useful information anyway; of
course, if somebody is upset, they'll say "priority: critical!" but this
doesn't give us any really useful information. Create a new, simpler,
easier feedback form, or migrate to a wholly different feedback system,
that uses a simpler, easier form. Think surveymonkey. Medium.
3. Use a channel bot to manage feedback, possibly in a dedicated channel.
This is a registered freenode user, so it's not totally anonymous and it
probably wouldn't be worthwhile to a spammer. It would allow the user to
reference the assocaited users very quickly and easily using IRC's
autocomplete features. It would give us a timestamp of the feedback which
we could later go through to review on an unpublished IRC log the Fedora
channel might have. Difficult, maybe impossible.
4. Create a karma system for #fedora support users. Perhaps make some kind
of position for IRC moderators, superusers, assistants, whatever you want
to call them - poeple who are active in IRC. Create a vote up/vote down
system that rewards them for being helpful and punishes them for being
mean, dismissive, unhelpful, or otherwise egregiously violating the
guidelines. Difficult, maybe impossible, and possibly a stretch.
I do not think a different feedback system is going to radically transform
our community, but it is a step we can take to improve it and learn from
our users, and not just the extremely happy or extremely disgruntled ones.
Ultimately I hope the feedback system can be renamed a "kudos system" as
our community becomes more positive and inclusive. For now, if we're going
to ask for feedback, let's incentivize it by making it pleasing and easy.
Any additional notes or logs:
Thanks for your feedback!

I was going to do these individually, but it will just turn into spam, and
on the most part this is a no-brainer.
I propose the removal of the following members of the sig, on the basis
they carry a vote currently..but may not be active, or interested in the
sig.
ausil, bit4man, deepsa, ivazquez, jkeating, jsmith, jsteffan, mkearey,
pfrields, wtogami, kanarip
I guess the simple thing is, if you agree with the removal, vote with
"+1", if you disagree with it all "-1", and if you disagree with one (or
more particular user's removal "-1 <username>"
Otherwise this thread could easily turn into 10 threads and get
unnecessarily messy.
