1) there has been a long standing rule that you do not have to help

No where in the ticket have I refuted this. You're free to choose to
help, or not. I'm speaking about the case where you *do choose to help*.
If you do, and get annoyed for whatever reason, "Get away! I don't have
to help you! You aren't paying me!" is the wrong way of "walking
away" (as you write below).
If you help, do it happily, decently, otherwise just don't. Like you
said, no one is forcing anyone to help in the channel. It's *completely*
voluntary. :)
2) alot of people will not help if selinux is set to disabled that is
their right
"I've also noticed that folks helping have their own preferences on
subject such as security. These may be good practices which should be
followed in general. However, a user not following these guidelines does
not become undeserving in any way. As an example, I saw a user being
denied support because he/she had selinux disabled (I see you disabled
selinux. Best of luck to you.). I'd rather that he/she be assisted, and
suggested to enable selinux. Does denying assistance for this seem fair
to you? "
Again, no where have I refuted this *right* you speak about. No where do
I ask that this right be *taken away*. I'm simply saying that a user not
following best practices (which is often due to their limited knowledge
on the subject) still should be helped. I've seen many people try to
educate such users, which is the right thing to do, instead of a rude
"Godspeed!".
4) and if there is a conflict of personalities its time to walk away
Oh yes. But there is walking away saying "Hey! Can you please wait for
someone else to help you? I'm unable to assist you at the moment. :(",
and there is walking away saying "You're a freaking douche! How are you
alive!? Get out of here already!". Again, the quotes are only examples
to bring out the difference.
"Walking away" isn't enough if you're still spoiling the channel's
decorum and antagonise the other person while doing it.
5) so since when does a fedora cloak == equal a paycheck to support
in
#fedora
Not sure where this is from or what context this is in.
a fedora cloak means you are a fedora contributor in someway or
fashion
Yes. Therefore, you represent the fedora community, and everyone who is
a part of the community. What you say/do reflects on everyone, not just
yourself.
In general: User's that have been rudely behaved with do not retaliate
with "$nick in #fedora is so rude.". They retaliate with "#fedora is so
rude."
Now that i have said my peace its time to drop this BS
I think I've pointed out that it isn't BS fairly satisfactorily :).
