I'm going to assume this: "YOU are not GOD or whatever higher entity you do believe in, otherwise you'd call the shots. You're simply a servant assisting. Play by the rules." is nothing more than a very odd way of saying "I felt disrespected." Reporter also uses the words "I want to feel welcome" and "I don't want to feel like an idiot." and "ruins my experience".
Overall, I get the picture that ticket reporter had a poor emotional experience in the channel. I'd like to caution people to respond on the technical merits of the advice he was given. For all I know, the technical advice was spot on, and ticket reporter was a little stubborn. However, sometimes, giving somebody excellent advice and a poor emotional experience is worse than no advice and a good emotional experience.
We're, most of us, volunteers here. Unlike technical knowledge, which once acquired, never runs out, giving people emotional support takes energy. Perhaps we can try to censor ourselves a little bit when we notice ourselves running out of 'feelgood' to give to people. I think the feeling people leave with is more important than the quality of the advice they leave with.
