Sorry for delay for writing this. We wanted to provide latest DNF stack in EPEL7 which means we also need newer components like libsolv, hawkey, librepo, etc.
Delayed so much you've already pushed them to testing I see.I'd like to see those unpushed until a decision is made. This isn't "push now, ask for forgiveness later"
Some of those are in RHEL7.2 and unfortunately it's not that easy to get them updated:
- librepo
- libsolv
- hawkey
Probably some more, didn't remember. There are no ABI breakage with those updates and actually only PackageKit (via libhif) depends on it.
For me this is NACK, presumably you've only tested core RHEL dependences? What about layered products, atomic, compose tools and third parties that might be using the libraries?
So I would like to ask EPSCo to provide exception to override those packages in EPEL7.
Not sure if maillist is correct way to do this..
There should likely be a ticket with a meeting keyword too but I'm not sure where the EPSCo ticket instance is, this is a good start.
