New git in EPEL?
by Michael Stahnke
After some discussion in IRC (Fedora-admin) we are wondering if
pushing a new git in EPEL is a good idea. There are some changes such
as git-command vs git command. So there could be some breakage.
Should we push a new git and cause some breakage or stick with old-n-busted?
My thoughts are to push out a new one, since I think if you are using
git, you curse everytime you touch this old crusty thing :)

my EPEL-6 packages up for takers
by Patrice Dumas
Hello,
I won't, at least for now, maintain the packages I maintain in EPEL-5 in
EPEL-6. I have added a nobranch file in all of them. If you want to take up
the package, you can. It is still unclear to me how to practically ensure
that you become the EPEL-6 branch owner, instead of me, though. Hopefully
this will be sorted out.
If you want to maintain the EL-5 (or even EL-4) branch too, don't
hesitate, the less package I maintain the better I am.
I think that wdm should not be maintained in EL-6 anyway, since upstream
is dead and there is no ConsoleKit integration.
For the dap-* packages it maybe worth waiting for a stabilisation of
the ABI, and maybe integration with bes and packaging of olfs to have a
working hyrax server before branching. My guess is that there are no
users of these packages anyway. Also maybe the opendap implementantion
in netcdf itself could be used instead of libdap/libnc-dap.

mirrormanager-1.3.5-1.el5 (FEDORA-EPEL-2010-2849)
Fedora mirror management system
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Quite a few bug fixes to the mirrorlist server and client processes to prevent
failures in these from hanging yum clients forever. This also somewhat reduces
CPU cycles spent spinning while waiting on the mirrorlist_server. Other fixes
to key components such as update-master-directory-list, manage-repository-
redirects, generate-worldmap (now requires newer python-basemap and -data sets).
Adds a configuration option to handle a lack of a reverse proxy ahead of the
mirrorlist_client WSGI. This version was used on release day for Fedora 13.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChangeLog:
* Wed May 26 2010 Matt Domsch <mdomsch(a)fedoraproject.org> - 1.3.5-1
- Adrian Reber (1):
mirrorlist_server: handle bad client IP address input
- Matt Domsch (18):
spec: require python-basemap-data too

crawler: send email when marking a whole host not up2date
mirrorlist_server: ignore SIGHUP in child - it'll exit soon enough
mirrorlist_server: increase socket request queue length to 300 (still limited by kernel options to 128)
mirrorlist_server: set request_queue_size earlier
mirrorlist_server: don't ignore SIGCHLD
mirrorlist tester: more printing, run forever
mirrorlist_client: sanitize input into UTF-8
mirrorlist_client: add 60sec timeout to reading from the server
mirrorlist_client: use select() waiting on the response from mirrorlist_server
mirrorlist_client: a better way to handle socket timeouts
mirrorlist_client: leave query params as utf8
mirrorlist_server: handle more failures gracefully
mirrorlist_client: add mirrorlist_client.noreverseproxy config parameter
umdl: don't use move_repository_from_development()
* Mon Apr 26 2010 Matt Domsch <mdomsch(a)fedoraproject.org> - 1.3.4-1
- Adrian Reber (2):
umdl: fix failure when updating from rsync listings.

Put titles on publiclist pages
expose crawler logs via apache directory listing
add crawler log link on host page
apache: ensure aliases to special areas come before the WSGI alias
remove python-fedora deprecation warning
add config option report_problems_to_email, display on publiclist footer.
ageFileDetails(): account for propogation delays

wxGTK and wxPython not compatible anymore?
by Mathieu Baudier
Hello,
since the latest update of wxGTK, I cannot start anymore an
application relying on both wxGTK and wxPython.
I am under the impression that wxPython needs to be rebuilt or updated.
(I checked epel-testing to see if it was not in the pipe)
More details:
- the application is a locally built and packaged GRASS GIS 6.4RC6
started with the -wx option
- on a non-updated CentOS 5.4 x86_64, the application is starting properly.
yum list shows that:
- the version of wxBase, wxGTK and wxGTK-gl is 2.8.9-2
- the version of wxPython is 2.8.7.1-2
- on an updated CentOS 5.5 x86_64, the application fails to start with
the following error message:
ERROR: wxGUI requires wxPython.
/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/wx-2.8-gtk2-unicode/wx/_misc_.so:
symbol _ZN7wxSound6CreateEiPKh, version WXU_2.8 not defined in file
libwx_gtk2u_adv-2.8.so.0 with link time reference
yum list shows that:
- the version of wxBase, wxGTK and wxGTK-gl is 2.8.11-1
- the version of wxPython is 2.8.7.1-2
Moreover wxPython has apparently not been updated since Feb 21st 2008,
which led me to think that it finally "lost touch" with the actively
maintained wx* packages.
Am I right in my analysis?
Is wxPython still maintained, and is an update planned in the near future?
Or should I rather package my own wxPython?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Mathieu

Problem with EL-6 tree
by Stephen John Smoogen
I have a broken tree in EPEL-6 at the moment:
--> Running transaction check
---> Package puppet.noarch 0:0.25.5-1.el6 set to be updated
--> Processing Dependency: ruby(selinux) for package: puppet-0.25.5-1.el6.noarch
---> Package puppet-server.noarch 0:0.25.5-1.el6 set to be updated
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Package: puppet-0.25.5-1.el6.noarch (epel)
Requires: ruby(selinux)
You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

virt-top not showing disk and network usage
by Neil Aggarwal
Hello:
I installed virt-top from epel onto my host running KVM
on CentOS. It was originally intalled with 5.4 and then
I did a yum update when 5.5 came out.
According to yum, I have these versions of the packages:
libvirt.x86_64 0.6.3-33.el5
kvm.x86_64 83-164.el5
qemu.x86_64 2:0.10.5-1.el5.2
kernel.x86_64 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5
When I run virt-top, it shows me the CPU and memory
usage of the VMs, but the disk and network colums
are empty.
I found this page:
http://people.redhat.com/~rjones/virt-top/faq.html
That states it depends on what is supported by
libvirt and the hypervisor.
I guess the packages I have installed do not support
it.
Any idea if/when it will be supported?
Are there alternative tools that will give me
that info?
Thanks,
Neil
