Which have actually been shipped with the RPM:
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_2.6.server
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_2.6.servere
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Calendar_2.6.server
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Calendar_2.6.servere
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Calendar_AlarmNotify_2.6.server
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Calendar_AlarmNotify_2.6.servere
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Mail_2.6.server
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Mail_2.6.servere
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Shell_2.6.server
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_Evolution_Shell_2.6.servere
And which then matched my "grep -l '$(LIB)' *" in that directory (i.e.
original files containing $(LIB) have been back up, overwriting the
original *.servere files). Which in turn made me think there must be
more than one $(LIB) on each line...
I like this one. Kept me confused for a while ;-)

loading module for usb joystick? hal bug?
by John Ellson
I just bought a new Logitech usb joystick to use with FlightGear
and it works on today's rawhide :-) However I had to manually
"modprobe joydev".
Shouldn't hal be doing this? Should I bugzilla this against hal?

I was being difficult on purpose, because you have chosen to ignore a
very important part of my original post in this thread. Here it is
again:
"Fedora is what it is - a fast moving distro for people that want
relatively new software on their machines. Folks that don't want to
change for a long time can run other distros, including free binary
RHEL rebuilds."
Let's not turn Fedora into something that it isn't supposed to be. The
direction and purpose is quite clear. The alternatives, many of them
completely free, are also quite clear.
There are many, many new technologies that Fedora delivers to the
masses and that is mostly the result of hard work of paid-for Red Hat
developers and to some extent the community. If we stretch RH folks
over even more distros (ATM, they have all supported RHEL flavors and
Fedora to do), they will get less done. And if we want FOSS to be a
serious player, things need to move at breakneck speed that proprietary
software vendors (which we aren't going to name here :-) can't follow.
If we want to see new and exciting stuff in a mainline distro like
Fedora, we all need to learn to let go of the older releases quickly.
That's exactly why (IMHO) Red Hat abandoned Red Hat Linux, where the
patching tail grew bigger and bigger with each new release. This is
unsustainable in an environment where no revenue exists to fund such
patching.
At least that's my theory and I'm sticking to it ;-)

Yeah, I think you're right actually. I don't see more than one instance
of $(LIB) on any lines in *.server files. Not sure why grep showed that
some files still have $(LIB) after I ran sed without 'g'. Weird
(probably my typo or something, although I don't see one in the bash
history)...
Not to worry. Please ignore my previous post.

repoview goodness
by Jesse Keating
Taking a page from Fedora Extras, I've modified our internal tree
spinning software to be able to generate repoview content. I've enabled
it for the nightly rawhide runs.
You can see the results here:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/x86_6...
Each arch has its own repoview. You should be able to use your favorite
mirror to look at this too.
Hopefully this will be of some help to those of you wanting a way to
look at new packages, package information, group information, etc...

Proposed changes to Fedora Legacy Project
by Jesse Keating
It has been brought to my attention that some of the terms we use are
scaring users away. This is not a good thing, so I propose the
following changes:
Where "Fedora Legacy" is mentioned, couple it with "The Community
Maintenance Project". IE "Fedora Legacy, the Community Maintenance
Project". Terms like 'Core', 'Extras', and 'Legacy' are pretty generic,
and require descriptive terms. The terms I propose for use with Legacy
are userfriendly and accurate.
Discontinue the use of 'End of Life'. This term is very misleading. A
core release that Fedora Legacy maintains is not End of Life, it is just
maintained by different folks. Instead one can use the term
'maintenance mode'. When a give Fedora Core release enters "maintenance
mode", Fedora Legacy, the Community Maintenance Project, will take over
maintenance of the release for Security issues.
Together with these term changes, I propose changes to Core to minimize
the exposure of this project:
Inclusion of Legacy repository and key information in the Core release.
This will allow update programs which make use of yum to not need any
changes once a release enters maintenance mode.
Package updates produced by Legacy published to fedora-list and
fedora-announce-list. This keeps our updates in the eyes of users
without them having to subscribe to a new list. Release emails should
use the same or similar format that current Fedora update emails use.
Other changes that I see necessary moving forward:
Discontinue fedoralegacy.org website and integrate content into the
Fedora Project wiki. Some of this has happened already, the rest needs
to happen. This will make it much easier for us to make changes to our
content, such as adding information about FC3.
Make use of yum mirrorlist feature for Legacy's mirroring system.
Make use of repoview for showing the current repository information for
each release that Legacy maintains.
Convert our build system over to that which Fedora Extras uses, and make
use of Fedora content in CVS repositories. This will make maintenance
much easier to manage, and contribution much easier to accomplish.
These are the changes I see as necessary moving forward. Please bear
with us as we try to make each change while continuing to maintain
releases. If you have thoughts/suggestions, I welcome them.

libneon version in FC5
by Christian Fredrik Kalager Schaller
Hi,
Any chance to have FC5 use the 0.25.x releases of neon instead of
0.24.x? The reason is that there are a relatively critical fix for
GStreamer usage of libneon coming in the upcoming 0.25.5 release.
While the 0.25.5 release might not make it out before FC5 freezes,
at least using 0.25.4 would make the migration painless, while upgrading
from 0.24.x to 0.25.x is very pain full (mainly due to OpenOffice using
it).
Sincerely,
Christian

removing kernel-devel rpms
by Bart Vanbrabant
Hello,
A few weeks back I installed xen and the kernels needed to run it. These
kernels where to old to run the new udev and stuff like that so I
removed them. I managed to remove them all except
kernel-xen-hypervisor-devel. Now when I try to remove this package or
any other kernel-devel package rpm starts to use 100% cpu and eating up
all my memory (no swapping) and that's it. I have to kill it with kill -9.
I also tried removing it with yum but this gives the same result.
When I run rpm with -vvv I get this output:

Here it stops doing stuff. When I try to remove a package for the first
time I see a lot of hd activity first before I goes to 100% cpu usage.
The second time I try it does it directly.
I tried rebuilding my rpm database. Also by first removing the __db*
files in /var/lib/rpm/ but that doesn't work either.
Is there a way to remove this packages? Because I start to get quite
some kernel-devel packages and it's probably a bug.
thanks,
Bart

glibc - tmpfs - readdir
by Jochen Schlick
hi,
i have an application which calls readdir(3) for
accessing directories in tmpfs. after several hours
the readdir call returns sometimes with einval. under
which circumstances can readdir(3) produce einval ?
is this a fedora kernel or a glibc problem ?
(incompatibility problem ?)
the system is an old fc2 system (glibc-2.3.3-2
kernel-2.6.10-1.770_FC2)
thanks
