The point is more that we don't want random applications poking holes in
firewalls that are beyond the system. All it takes is for some exploit
to be discovered within the btclient, and whammo.
I'm sorry that BT is so difficult to use that you have to futz with
firewalls. But I don't feel that it is Fedora's place to allow
applications to poke holes in firewalls not even on the system.

Oh I see what you are saying.
When trusted application foo is being run by user in trusted group bar
(or open for any user) - the firewall will open ports xxxx to yyyy
should foo request they be opened - for the duration that foo is
running.
That would be slick.

Problem launching Terminal
by Willem Riede
After update from today's rawhide I don't seem to be able to launch additional
terminals from the gnome menu. "Starting terminal" appears in the panel for
several seconds, then disappears. I had two terminals at login after boot from
the previously saved session, and those became as dead as a doornail after I
had the above experience trying to get a third. Eventually the panel became
non-responsive and I had to kill X with ctrl-alt-bs. After logging in again,
no more terminals, though the panel problem was not reproducible.
After reboot I have my default terminals again...
Anybody see anything like this?
Thanks, Willem Riede.

Requires vs Requires.private ?
by Denis Leroy
So what is up with the "Requires.private" entries in various pkgconfig
.pc files ? Most mock fc5 builds are currently failing because of a
missing dependency between libX11-devel and libxau-devel. Culprit seems
to be :
bash-3.00# grep -i requires /usr/lib/pkgconfig/x11.pc
Requires: xproto kbproto inputproto
Requires.private: xau xdmcp

Rhythmbox with iPod support
by Jean-Rene Cormier
I was just wondering if Rhythmbox is gonna have support for iPod in FC5?
I just compiled the Rhythmbox SRPMS from rawhide under FC4 and I needed
libgpod which is not in rawhide so I'm assuming support for iPod in
Rhythmbox won't be in FC5. Is there any reason preventing the inclusion
of libgpod in FC? If not I think it would be nice to have it included to
get iPod support in Rhythmbox out of the box ;)
Thanks!

gnome 2.12 for fc4?
by dragoran
kde 3.5 was released as an update for fc4.
but what about gnome 2.12?
fc5 will use gnome 2.14 while fc4 still uses gnome 2.10.
so any reasons for not shipping gnome 2.12? (I know that it will require
a new gtk and cairo)

USB drive REformatting -reg
by SK Sharma
Friends,
Dunno if this is an appropriate questionon this mail list....I want
help to use a PenDrive on ALL linux flavors (if possible on OpenSolaris &
WinXX too ?)
A friend donated a UNknown format 1GB USB Pendrive and
my RH9 Hardware browser detects as a HDD & lists as follows:
============================================================
Drive /dev/sda (Geom: 1022/33/61)(Model: Generic Flash Disk)
/dev/sda
1 1 < 1 Free space
sda1 1 1023 1005 fat32
============================================================
How should I interpret the above information,I presume that
this is formatted as FAT32, which can be used on Windows.
This is enquiring How can I REformat (if required) so that
I can use this flash drive on WinXX & Linux file formats as
well - please provide step-by-stpe instructions for a novice.
thankyou,
