see below.
BTW, your repository:
http://mirrors.vexs.net/pub/fedora/linux/updates/12/i386/repodata/
is out of date, so the checksums are completely different,
yes, there are out of date. seeing '2010-Oct-08 21:07:45' did not appear
that would be older than what you had.
The checksums of the archive and of the file in are correct in my
case as
well, despite this fact the yum complains.
ok. this was misleading;

i took it to mean sha1sum was failing also.
If I delete /var/cache/yum/* and update the system, yum complain that
the
file pkgtags.sqlite.gz is missing. But everything works and if I use
PackageKit, nothing is noticeable.
Ok, it looks again I might fall asleep ....
ok.
i am currently running in scientific linux and i have not updated fedora 12
in 2 weeks, because of some deps problems i ran into.
i have to go out and take care of some personal business. when i return, i
will boot fedora 12 to see if my deps clear up and have a look at what i
have in /var/cache/yum/*.
hopefully someone can reply with something helpful while i am gone.
much luck.
