Same problem with nvidia-x11-drv-96xx-1.0.9639-1.i386.rpm on my 32bit
system (antique GeForce2 MX/MX 400 card). I fetched the latest legacy
driver from
nvidia.org (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.01-pkg1.run.bin) which
built and runs without any glitches.
That's because 96.43.01 is the driver that you should be using.
1.0-9639 is an *OLDER* driver from the same branch as 96.43.01. As I
stated as the beginning of this thread, freshrpms is out of date.
