MATE spin perhaps? Not exactly like xfce and a bit heavier but it is a
fork of Gnome 2, I believe.

I must have put seven bugs into Xfce and not a peep out of them.
I wonder if the project is dead? If so, it is a pity. I really
like Xfce.
