$ dmesg | egrep -i 'dmg|hfs'
hfs: can't find a HFS filesystem on dev loop0.
hfs: unable to find HFS+ superblock

Could this be a corrupted dmg?
It's more likely that the HFS driver doesn't know how to handle the
compression. If you knew what compression was used (there's multiple)
then you might have a shot.
It may be better to try one of the conversion utilities instead.
