Did you try another PIM application? May be
Thunderbird with the calendar extension (Lightning)? Or Evolution
which has calendar, tasks, contacts, mail and notes...
Both works fine in KDE.
I've often thought of abandoning KMail in the past,
particularly when it went through some very bad patches.
But it seems to be running pretty well at present.
I did look at other PIM applications;
but KAddressBook/Kontact (they seem to be the same in this context)
appeared to be the only ones that dealt with "contacts" in the usual sense.
I wasn't quite clear if you were suggesting thunderbird and evolution
as alternatives to KMail, or if they can be used to provide
contact lists for KMail?
