No, nothing forces you to use gimp-print. I'm using gutenprint here,
and I also have gimp-print-cups (and so escputil) installed.
but I believe you will find that if gimp-print is installed, it becomes
the default renderer, and the output on your epson printer will suffer.
I had to nuke it here before the printer would finally act as expected
when printing photo stuff.
