Indeed. But it's still not really "transient temporary data", since many
people don't keep a "master copy" anywhere else.
I'd put /var/spool/cron back from a backup if I replaced a machine,
but I'm not sure I really consider it better or not to keep running jobs
for a user who has forgotten what they are and when they should run...
