Yeah, this is something related to client/server software,
not particularly related to server machine sound hardware.
google: rdp necessary to install audio hardware
And probably applies to all remote desktop solutions independent of platform.
BTW related to RDP in general, I find this interesting for one sole reason, RDP backend
has become a part of Weston - the reference compositor for Wayland - that will replace X11
in the near future.
Although the audio portion is likely to be resolved, if not already, through PulseAudio.
