I haven't heard anything about this, why is it such a secret?
How can I fix this as I am effectively crippled. I use nano for most work on remote
servers, But fro all of the server that have a GUI installed we use (used) kwrite.
This came up in another thread recently:

The idea is to protect you from yourself, because "everyone knows"
running a GUI app as root is subject to horrible exploits
which might very well end the world as we know it.
The only problem is that you'd expect to be able to trivially
google for what exploits those might be, or a record of what
horrible things have happened to bad children who run GUI apps
as root, yet I'm still trying to find that list (or even
a single example).
Just run Xorg instead of wayland and you'll be back to normal.
