Maybe it would be best to do this: start off with date > /root/log.txt
(This tells you when you booted and gets rid of any previous file.) and
add 2>>/root/log.txt to each commands so that stderr goes into the log.
Ideally, of course, the file should contain nothing but the date, but if
anything's wrong, this will give us a hint.
None of those commands are failing.
