I play some games via steam and I need the proprietary driver for better gaming. I hope an
update fixes the driver - kernel issue :)

Tough luck for you. You'll just have to wait until AMD update their
driver. I gave up on the proprietary driver years ago; it's incredibly
buggy and there's a lag between kernel updates and updates for the
driver. Why don't you switch to the free drivers?
