Yes, it can be done that way as well - it usually works. But instead
of renaming the file, move it to another directory. I have a
directory /root/save just for things like that.
I have just tried that (moved the 70-persistant-cd.rules file to
/root/save) and rebooted. It also repairs the reported problem!
