The server is still running?
get the working kernel.rpm and do a rpm -ivh.

I did that, yet get this message:
rpm -ivh *rpm

warning: package kernel-smp = 2.6.8-1.521 was already added, replacing
with kernel-smp <= 2.6.9-1.3_FC2

[100%]
package kernel-smp-2.6.9-1.3_FC2 is already installed
and if you try a rpm -e for that kernel, dependencies are going to be
deleted as well.
