USB3 ports on the newer machine versus USB2 on the older machine?
Does your USB stick claim to be USB3? Is it a reputable brand? Some
early USB3 sticks were dodgy. USB3 signaling needs more careful RF design
(lengths and routing of circuit traces and wiring) due to higher
frequencies so slapping a new chip into a USB2 design without proper
preparation may result in PPP (p*** poor performance).
Thanks!
I was using a somewhat fancy SanDisk Cruzer Glide 3.0. Due to your advice I used an older
USB2-only stick which worked ok.
I would not hurry to blame the new stick. Maybe the P1 circuitry, or the Fedora USB3
driver are the dodgy ones?
