I get a different error with that!
Even if the other method "worked" you'd still run into the difficulty you
show below.
I don't have a 32bit system and don't have EFI sytems.
You may want to try adding --skip-broken to the command, or -x to exclude the
grub2-efi package from the upgrade process.
